great to see some smart, simple design on the interior and showing what you can fit within a narrow 30 footer. I think the wheel design is excellent.

Excellent review again by Theo. He is excellent. I was disinterested by the boat because of no standing head room. Again i have way more space on 1988 jeanneau which is under 30ft
@bravofighter Жыл бұрын
This is quite sparsely fitted considering the price! All that fiberglass and not one, but TWO swivel chairs for €145k? Why did they overbuild the hull and put twin rudders on a boat you can barely stay overnight on? You can’t even use the coffee pot, as there’s no inverter! This is why manufacturers have trouble selling more than a few dozen small boats anymore, what they’re charging for them is obscene.

You want quality look at the price of a Pacific seacraft 31 then you'll be like dam that's cheap
@ceirwan9 ай бұрын
Because its basically impossible to build a boat in Western Europe for much cheaper than that. Labour, materials, equipment, all cost loads. Only the big production line builders manage to do it cheaply (relatively).

But I do agree, I can't see who would pay that much money for this boat.

nice yacht if it had the headroom it seems as though it was built like a catalina without the pop up roof lol

I have an old Nicholson 30 Half Tonner. The bulb keel version. It has masthead rig, a deep cockpit, if you are standing up in the cockpit the boom is above your head so no worries. The main cabin is huge with fullstandind headroom and a pilot berth for masses of storage. A large heads and washroom with full standing headroom. Plus a large V berth. Robust build with a deep forfoot, a bustle and a skeg. Plus substantial tumbleholm. Great sea keeping, I've sailed mine across the Atlantic. I feel if Nicholson made a modern version they would do well against the modern designs.

Really like Theo's reviews, he is not afraid to point out shortcomings unlike some others who seem to be afraid of doing that. One small irritation, way to many um's while talking.

Good idea with the moveable wheel.

Yes they've been around for a while on Sirius 35 and First 35. Not sure why they're not used more.

I didn't know that. On some boats, it looks a bit rediculous to have 2 wheels and stations so close to each other. @@atakd

A well thought out simple design. Very refreshing in a world where all the manufacturers follow a very well worn path.

For the record, that Torqeedo installation is capable of regenerative charging as shown. Enable regen in the settings, crack open the throttle above 5 kt's, and it will charge the battery array.

You mean it charges while you're sailing? The opening the throttle bit is confusing....

Insane price. Even a glancing look at the second hand market makes you realise that buying one of these new makes zero sense. I dread to imagine how badly they will depreciate!

Looks promising but also seems like there was a lot of things that could be improved, especially on the inside. I think that door to the head would drive me nuts (notice the gap above it), as well as the mouldings and lack of height.
@javierechevarria154811 ай бұрын
Thank you for the video and the tour. EXCELLENT a, not sure I am sold on this one. The door for the head is a funny solution, but not perfect. The top of the door doesn’t reach the frame. The entrance to the V berth is too narrow, etc, etc. € 200k is a lot of money …. I don’t see the value for money proposition.

Initially it looked great, but the devil is in the detail I suppose. Clearly not rigged as a competitive racer, but also no standing room on a30 footer? With the galley all the way down there passing tea up isn't going to be easy heeled over with such an open saloon. No grab rails on coachroof? Not much berthing for the size, even 1980s Hunter Horizon 30 much better layed out, and I guess aimed at the same niche in its day, similar dimensions. I suppose the good waterline length is a pro, but it's a light boat for that wetted area, what's it like in the rough stuff? Does it power through or get slapped still each wave? Seems best placed as a big lake boat for day sails.

Surely such a narrow (by current design trends) design doesn't really require twin rudders.

A single rudder, would have to be deeper. ...don't know if that was a design trade off.

I had a Salty Dog, a Peter Milne design, barely 27ft. A proper little yacht. The layout of this 30 footer is inferior.

To build a 30ft boat with no standing headroom and a galley that's unusable a sea is quite an achievement. Overpriced boat that will not hold any investment value is quite ridiculous. Nice cockpit though.
