I’m glad you’re getting sales through KZbin, means we can enjoy these videos knowing your hard work is paying off. You don’t have to be able to afford something to enjoy and appreciate it. Whether it’s art, yachts or cars.

I really enjoy that you let us all take part of “your marketing” material. It is positive, make us dream, smile and make plans for the day when maybe it is my turn. It is very generous of you, thanks. I do not care if I can not buy (at least not today) I like the design, the craft the ideas. Your channel is great.

Congratulations on the interest in "Blue Moon" ! Your walk through showed more behind the scenes equipment that either isn't built into other yachts or is overlooked during walk through videos. The rear mounted thruster is not standard equipment, let alone one that retracts and rotates and can propel the vessel forward. The tank deck storage is another often overlooked feature that we never see. When you see a massive difference in price between yachts of the same size, it is this attention to detail and additional features in the build that create that value. Bravo !!

Please dont read their comments in your videos because that's exactly what they want.I have One request if possible please do more content on large explorer yachts. Have a nice day.

Darth KEK - KEK (im guessing) being a reference to early World of Warcraft. The two factions could chat to each other via chat bubbles. These were scrambled so there was a forced language barrier. People found out when one faction said LOL the other faction would see KEK in translation. This was patched fairly quickly. But has stood the meme test of time.

Kek was also an Egyptian god of primordial darkness. Also, IIRC, kek was used in Starcraft prior to the existence of WoW, and it is possible that it was adopted in WoW as the translation for lol in reference to that. If we want to get SUPER pedantic about things :)

Can confirm that super wealthy people do watch KZbin. Got a buddy with a smaller yacht that watches the same crap I watch on KZbin and I’ve sent him on a few of these videos when David has done a really great looking yacht. Not all are in his price range but even the mega rich can be made to feel like peasants by some of the more costly yachts and it’s kinda nice to know that they also share the same sense of dreaming of owning them most viewers have. 😜 David at some point would you do a video interview with a yacht builder discussing engine room layouts/design. I often feel it’s such an under appreciated part of the M/Y world and my engineering side would love to know about what kinda of thinking goes into it.

Hi David. That’s brilliant to hear! Look very forward to seeing those videos when you do them. And no you don’t fall into the Crap catalogue of KZbin at all. I more meant other random things we both enjoy like science shows, I know he watches some of your videos but told me once at a BBQ it’s dangerous because then he has to stop himself from buying a bigger yacht than he can afford. Apparently you too good at your job ha ha 🤣 keep up the great videos and as someone in digital marketing it’s great to hear about your sales success through the channel.

Great video, after watching several of your "How to Buy" videos I'm starting to get the whole process nailed down into memory. It all makes sense and you put prices on everything like the survey, crew costs, insurance, management, legal fees, maintenance, etc. Very valuable since I've known people that have bought much smaller boats and let them fall into disrepair because they didn't expect anything to ever wear out or break down.

just for your edification, the "Blue" tape is a type of tape that has a low contact. it is used where the surface may be delicate and makes the tape easily removed without leaving a residue. There are different types of that tape that has different levels of stickiness.. its usually used by the autobody industry.

People have Dreams. I haven’t got a pot to piss in, but thanks for videos I love them. Also being a building surveyor and dealing with luxury condos in Singapore, it’s refreshing to know all the defects are dealt with handled in pretty much the same way in the Yachting industry. Also the subjective defects, like natural flaws in timber and natural stone keeps things interesting, when dealing with the buyer, lots of cringing moments explaining that’s what marble is meant to look like. Cheers David.

The first step in buying a yacht is narrowing down what you want. The internet is about the best way to start. Once you have knocked down your range of yachts then you can really start looking in great detail - boat shows, brokers etc - but the internet can help knowing the questions you MUST ask as well as those that are points of interest. The first question always should be "will it float?".

Nick of Aquaholic have a video of a couple who bought a yacht they saw on his channel. It may only be a second hand 50ft boat but it’s still worth over £300k, which is more than any poor person can afford, so yeah, I believe people with money do watch KZbin. And this channel is a good source of information for anyone on the market for a yacht. Keep up the good work, Sir.

Surveys are carried out under a lot of names/Trades, Here in the USA if you want to buy home thru a bank(usually called Home inspections) they require them as well. Also the level of Survey will depend on what you are willing to pay out and your contract. Take Narroboats in the UK, their survey is different than that of a used Yacht. Insurance companies also may require different types of survey too. I love this new vlog style, keep them coming.

Really enjoyed this vlog! Thank you for sharing some of the behind the scenes and reality inducing information. I had a separate question which hopefully causes you to pause for a moment: you have showcased so many of the high end builders that have produced amazing yachts. If you could take the best parts of different builders that you felt excelled in an area over another and merged them into a single yacht, say Benneti’s cabinetry and Lursa’s use of deck space, or whatever, how would you build your dream yacht? I of course don’t expect you to burn bridges with any builders, but was curious as what areas you felt particular builders excelled in. From what I have learned from you and others, I love lurssen as a builder and, once I make a name for myself, plan on tasking them to build whatever yacht I find most appealing :)

Great and interesting video. Interesting on the paint bit as a point for rejection. I worked for a company that delivered very large cranes to customers for multiple millions of euros and paint was also a sticking point for delivery. People do always believe good first impressions are hugely important, and I think the yacht building business circles around that premise very, very much. That, and of course, comfort and luxury.

Chef here. They use blue for the same reason we do in kitchens, be it gloves, plasters, paper towels and piping bags - to name but a few. It is a colour that stands out, isn't something we would expect to see in a mousse or piece of sea bass, as it is not a "natural" colour we associate with foods, apart from say flowers for garnish and the like. The same is true for walnut, iroko, oak and so forth. Same is true with many other materials such as GRP, stainless or most marble. It's also why post it notes and highlighter pens are coloured in that way - to highlight something and bring it our attention. It stands out. The psychology of colour is an interesting thing, once you go down the rabbit hole. Sorry for lengthy post, but hope it helps! PS apart from being a Chef, I've restored a few yachts, all sail and smaller than most super yacht tenders, as well as dabble in carpentry/furniture, hence why I follow your excellent channel!

Enjoy most of your videos. This one was interesting and cabinetry was one of the things that stand out to me in videos in general between the top yachts and the lower end ones. Chasing leaks in a home can be time consuming, in a yacht I can imagine it will be much more of a problem. Hadn't thought about paint. I'm pretty sure if I ever have even a few million to spend on a yacht, I'll watch every video I can find - just as I do now when I dream of a Silent Seas or Sunreef or similar cat.
@dlfendel2844

Great info. FYI, in "American" English, a "snagging list" is known as a "punch list" I think because wayyy back for not just boats but all kinds of bespoke creations such as homes and cars and such they literally put a "punch" hole in the spec sheet for things that didn't come out up to snuff and needed fixing. Anyhow, it is commonplace in construction here. Thanks! ALSO, the reason they use that blue tape is that it is known in the US as "painter's tape" and is made with an adhesive that will let it come OFF without harming or pulling up the underlying finish, often for doing masking for lines of different colors.

Another KZbin interest of mine is following the high end motorhome scene. They have the same metrics, such as rattles of cabinets and such. The better ones don't. You can buy a really nice, fancy RV for $500,000. But if your spend 2-3 million, you get a really solid, will built, fancy RV. Quality costs $$$

Shipyards probably use blue tape because painter's tape is less adhesive (doesn't risk damaging a surface when you pull the tape off), and doesn't leave behind a sticky residue. Painter's tape is typically blue.

Blue Tape... That kind of tape is made specifically with very light adhesive. That way, when removed it does not leave a sticky finish.

I know you've done videos on buying new vs used yachts before. Could you give us some insight on retrofits for yachts that are beginning to age? Maybe you could touch on the comparisons between buying a used yacht and retrofitting it compared to buying new.

I also watch sea captains, dairy farmers, farriers, former Special Forces soldiers, engineers, lumber millers, heavy equipment operators, animal rescuers, and auto mechanics on KZbin. Am I expected to be a professional engaged in all of those careers? Dang! I've been doing it all wrong for years. Where do I turn myself in?

i watch this channel just because i think the yachts are simply beautiful machines. i know i will never be able to own one, or even charter one. i will never own the Mona Lisa either, but that does not mean i cant admire the work of art for what it is.
