I would pick the Bering, as my dream boat is Bering 80 (or as they call it now 88)
@windycurrent6 ай бұрын
Bering 125 for a few reasons. 1. The company has superb management. 2. From everything we've been seeing these past few years, Bering quality is getting up there and competing with European shipyards. So, in other words, it is higher quality and much safer on the open ocean. 3. Bering embraces new propulsion technology, improving fuel consumption and CO² emissions while vastly lowering hours and maintenance costs on engines and generators while Numarine has not. And lastly 4. They build a better vessel with higher gross tonnage for less money.

At 9:33 there is a error of naming the yachts. The Bering is the Numarine and viceversa.
@acecha056 ай бұрын
If you have been on both, I think most want to know how affected by the ocean they are, how stable they feel underway. That is really what people want to know. By the materials and weight, it seems the Bering would be the smoother ride. That, I think, is the true win.

Very simple. The Numarine is a floating apartment and the Bering is for real world cruising anywhere on the globe. I know where my money would go.

Excellent comparison, I always enjoy your videos and information. One point I will make is that in comparing two or more yachts, as in other manufacturing, it's not what we see, the difference in many cases is what one CANNOT see makes the real difference. As for my money and comfort, I'd definitely stay with a BERING based on my knowledge at this point. Thanks again for your presentation, I can't seem to get enough information from knowledgable individuals is the yacht building space that truly give unbiased information.

David, this comparing 2 similar yachts is a great addition to your single yacht features. I would personally take the berring every time. as numarine states, their yacht is a med explorer and i would guess its very good for that. however out in the rougher seas i think the berring would feel more secure. once again thank you for a such great content. i look forward to more of this kind of video.

Wow awesome yachts.. However, I would choose the Bering. If I'm not mistaken the Bering offers hybrid propulsion systems with solar panels on top of the roof. I prefer the steel hull with an aluminum superstructure. I luv traveling to remote places / islands, so I think the Bering's design conept is more suitable for that reason. Btw I think your team made a small mistake by putting the Bering Specs on a Numarine picture and visa versa (when you were talking about the yacht's performances).. the Bering's picture should be on the left (or the port side of the computer screen) and the Numarine should be on the right.. 😊 however both are awesome yachts. I think your video just made it more difficult to choose.. 😂

I appreciate this new comparison style you're doing. It can really show differences that one might not normally think about. While there were several things of the Numarine I liked over the Bering, I would take the Bering. For me, the biggest factors end up being gross tonnage and material. If I can ever afford a yacht, I won't go with fiberglass, purely on a safety perspective.
@KingGraver6 ай бұрын
I love me a Bering but would choose the Numarine - no doubt. I had a "yacht" a while back which was built in 1932. Of wood and only 76' however, when out on the briney and observing others of similar size, my beam of only 16' cut through the water with practically no wake at 12 knots but observing new vessels, they really had to "plow" a lot of water aside to get through it, leaving a sizable wake. My fuel consumption was correspondingly less with twin Detroit 671's. Just seems like a narrower beam, assuming you achieve the interior spaces desired, makes sense. Would love to hear your take on this!!

Great video. Thanks a lot. If I may say, the engines are not called “man” They are called M.A.N., which is an acronym for (that’s a handful): “Maschinenwerke Augsburg Nürnberg” which roughly translates to “engine manufacturer Augsburg Nuremberg”. Cheers!

So the pricing is based on the gross tonnage, meaning the Baring price of $16 million euros should be divided by the 476 meaning the price is roughly $32,720 per ton. While the Numarine is roughly $17 million euro with a gross tonnage of 345 with each gross ton costing $49,275 roughly. Baring is fully customizable, Numarine I am not 100% on but they should be the same I think. Just based on price per gross tonnage I would take Baring, providing I can not find a pre-owned that meets most of what I wanted. Pre-owned is a lot cheaper. Peace

If all I was going to to do is putter around the Med (or Bahamas), then I might consider the NuMarine, but honestly, if you want to travel to the really out of the way places in the world the obvious choice is the Bering because of their rugged construction.

Thanks for really interesting video. Fascinating to see how these yachts, similar in size and purpose, differ in fundamental ways. Looking at the Numarine, it is a fairly tall yacht with a reasonably narrow beam. I wonder if it would roll even with stabilizers cranking away? Both of these yachts suffer from drafts that make it difficult for them to explore shallow regions like the Bahamas. I would prefer the Numarine mostly because its 12 knot cruising speed is 20% faster than the Bering's 10 knot speed. You can cover long distances in much shorter time at 12 knots than 10 knots.

Bering 77 absolutely gorgeous for Mediterranean...no ocean cross needs. You have all great places to go with it. If you want cross ocean, no problem, a little bit not so much comfortable as 78, and of course 125 etc. 77 self operating super vessel. My goal.

I recently learned, as you very rightly stated, that the price per GTis the calculation. In the real estate world this has been done for ages per sqm. Back to the yachts, it is strange that the Numarine call their Yacht MXP and its is as you said an extended 28, even then the beach club is rather 'small' compared to the Bering. You know I am a big fan of Bering so convincing me al alternative option (even if I could afford it) would be a hard sale. The extra meter of beam makes a huge difference in comfort. When it comes to consumption, I find it hard to believe the range of the Numarine.

Most people will not use these yachts for serious exploring to the polar ice regions ect. Either of these would have no problem crossing an ocean, fuel permitting. We have crossed the Atlantic on a very old Beneteau 501 without generator, radar, ais, and limited refrigeration. One of these would be a luxury cruise while we went from overheated to heavy wet weather gear. If I could afford anything like this, it would be the Numarime. Oh well, it is nice to dream and either would wonderful.

Me personally, I would take the range with less fuel over the tonnage. Seems like both are really close so it would be a hard choice for sure!

Bering yachts appear to be like the Hummer of vehicles. Big, oversized, impressively strong looking. The Numarine seems sleeker and perhaps more luxurious and shiny. I think for anyone planning on some serious travelling, fuel economy is an issue. Imagine dropping an extra $50,000 every time you top up the tanks. That adds up quickly as a serious disadvantage. If money was absolutely a non issue, I’d go with the Bering. Let’s be honest though, I would be delighted with either. If I was a multi-billionaire, I wouldn’t choose either. I would be suggesting they would both make nice chase boats for my 330 foot yacht. lol.

You can like the outside all you want, but it is the curse speed that make or breaks a vessel. Look at all the yachts for sale that have a cruise speed between 7 - 9 knots. There is a reason.....this is 2024 and new hulls are traveling at 12 -14 knots.
@gregchrist50906 ай бұрын
Well the explanation in the beginning clear says that the Numarine MXP is designed to cruise the Mediterranean. Now given this and looking at the Numarines aft, you see a long low profile stern with a large swim platform as opposed to the Berings. I would hate to be in an ocean crossing with a large following swell on the Numarine. The difference really comes down to how you want to use the vessel. Then safety of vessel. Then price. In a sense, you are comparing more than just size it is more like apples and oranges. They are similar but serve different functions. Now, knowing the price difference, you can say if I could afford the Numarine, then I could afford a bigger Bering.

Let me start off with a question, gross tonnage is the marine equivalent to square footage in a home, why then is gross tonnage not an option when searching for yachts in all of the brokerage houses search engines. It’s a big miss, considering its importance For me the Bering will win, and it’s for a number of reasons: 1- the steel and aluminum construction. I just don’t think a true explorer should be made of GRP. I have seen boat owners having issues with GRP cracking and needing it to be fixed numerous times. 2-the gross tonnage to me is big- when traveling the world you are going to want as much interior space as possible, as there will be many days when due to weather you will be stuck inside. When traveling with additional 10 people, and crew, you want some “elbow room”. 3- cruising speed- no way will I want to cruise at 8 knots, unless conditions demand it. To me 10 knots is a rather comfortable cruising speed. For this comparison, the Bering wins. Looking forward to the third option tomorrow. I am liking these comparison videos.
