Just got a second hand FT3DR. Your videos are excellent/nice and slow for us old folk, and you clearly show which buttons to press in what order. Thank you!

To the to-the-point video! I'm a fairly new Technician and have been using the Yaesu FT-70D and always wanted the FT3DR but they stopped making them. After searching patiently I happened on a 3DR NIB! Thank you again for this video!

This was a helpful video. I needed to change the Repeat Shift to Simplex for 446.000. This helped me with the steps to get to that menu item.

The best programming video by far for my new radio. Thank you for making it!!!

Liked watching this as I've been considering taking the plunge on one of these HT's. I have a Yeasu 400XDR in my car and wanted to see how different they were. Clearly, having used the other makes this one pretty intuitive. Thanks.

Thanks for the helpful video. I just recently acquired the FT3D and am learning how to program it with the help of your videos. I do have a question though. There is a local repeater that shows both an uplink AND downlink tone of 131.8. I figured out how to do the uplink tone, but what about programming in a downlink tone? This kind of thing is not something I've seen before in a repeater, so I'm sort of confused. Thanks.

I am thinking of getting the FT3DE can i use it without putting a callsign in as i don't have one. I am going for my licence. I know i cant talk on it that's ok. i just wanna listen and learn some stuff before going for my radio licence.
@PrecisionGroupYT3 жыл бұрын
When you first turn the radio on it does ask you to input your call sign! It may operate with out one (for receiving) but I have not tried it! I would highly suggest getting your license first and then reward yourself for having past the test with the purchase of this great little radio! Of course if you purchase prior to having your license it’s almost like buying a Ferrari High end sports car and not having a drivers license and or being able to drive it……which would be a bit crazy! But you may be able to use this radio for just receiving ( No Transmitting ) but you’ll have much more fun when you can not only receive but transmit IMHO!!!! Best of Luck!!

I think you are going to need at least one extra battery and a second desk top "CD-41" rapid charger cradle with it's own AC wall adapter.

What is so good about the Nagoya antenna compared to a diamond antenna? Thanks
@PrecisionGroupYT4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps I miss understand your question I did not mention or compare the Nagoya Antenna to a Diamond Equivalent antenna my comment in the video was that this Nagoya antenna has far better performance than the stock antenna that comes with the Yaesu FT3DR.....apologies for any confusion! 73’s
@gs-nt6nf4 жыл бұрын
@@PrecisionGroupYT no worries. Do you think the Nagoya is better than a diamond antenna?
@PrecisionGroupYT4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I could not say as I do not have one to compare it to..... I do really like other Diamond antennas that I have but as far as the Nagoya goes for this radio I have seen a few other KZbinrs who are also using this Nagoya Antenna for the FT3DR .... but of course that in itself does not mean it would be better than a Diamond Equivalent

Can this radio have different tx and rx freq’s? Duplex operation?
@PrecisionGroupYT4 жыл бұрын
This radio does have two independent receivers in it but you can not transmit and receive simultaneously as when you are transmitting the reception on the other VFO cuts out! Hope this answers your question 73
@Heli_Brandon4 жыл бұрын
PrecisionGroupYT thanks for the reply! I guess Im hoping to get my local tactical frequencies programmed in. For example one is Rx 171.4750 with a tone of 123.0 and a Tx 164.8000 with a tone of 136.5. So would that maybe be a half duplex?

@@enrique861 this is unfortunate to hear my only suggestion without physicaly being able to look at it myself would be to go through and double check all the settings for the repeater to make sure the offset (+,-) (0.600Khz, 5.00Mhz) and the repeater tone is correct! I wish I could be more helpful but this is difficult without seeing it in person! 73 and good luck!
