My old VX-7R is getting weak on tx, even with the brand new battery. It's max output is down to about 3.7, and as much as I love it, and have for many years, I have been wanting for some digital features. I bought this radio from HRO, and received it today. This is really fantastic Frank, I had no idea my FT5D would do all this! I’ve had the FT3D radio for some time for APRS and when I saw the advent of the 5 I jumped on it, but as far as I knew it was just to supplement my APRS hardware.
