Yaesu FT450 OMG, these things are actually very good!!!

Owned a few but first time I've had a chance to get one on air, and wow, this is a bloody beauty. I have had them on test sets previously but been so busy, never actually had one on air. My loss as oh boy, for the small amount of money these radios sell for, just incredible value for money. They are indeed. I have the 450D with the internal antenna tuner. It's been a great radio all around. The mic with the correct EQ setting and Gain gives me good audio reports. And the DSP has brought in very weak stations. I really don't think you can beat it for the money. One of the best radios in his class.

Brenton, this is an excellent video. Well done. I host a KZbin podcast to help encourage people to get into ham radio. I’d like to use this video to encourage people to purchase a Great Antenna First and then get an inexpensive Radio that’s good to start out with. I think the 450 D is an excellent Transceiver that can do that. Your video proves it. hey dude, been using a my old mans Emperor Shogun, been looking into getting my ham radio license but i been listening to the ham guys at the moment. In the UK its full of idiots on the FM band in my region which i have no interest. A friend of mine offered this radio for £350 with the power cable and microphone. Told me its a good HF radio starter and this video is amazing, shows all the "bells and whistles" and is convincing me to buy it. Its exactly the same as what he has shown me, other websites have stated its a good starter HF radio. I studied radio frequencies and radio waves at university and I've got a grasp on this but i am definitely interested in more of the HAM radio side of things.

HI Steve, Ham radio has something for everybody, and when you find an area that you love, you will be hooked for sure. I tend to stay away from the FM repeaters, Im more of a HF nut working dx all around the world as a preference, so everyone has their particular areas they love. I actually have a Shogun in the box, never pulled it out, but maybe one day. The FT450 is aok for the 350 pounds, and its a great starter radio for sure, very simple in operation but provides really everything you need. Keep studying for your ham ticket, its pretty easy these days, but well worth doing. cheers Brenton VK3CM

You don't need to Hit the DSP Button to adjust Shift, the DSP is for the 4 option above Shift, i have the updated model with the Yaesu MD-100A8X Desk Mic, Great Report's

I've recently bought one of these, but I find the RX audio terrible & muddy; the only way I've found to improve it is to turn the contour fully down to the left. Out of the numerous rigs I own, the FT-450D is hands down the worst for receive audio. Has anybody else noticed the same poor audio?

Transmitt bandwidth in ssb is only 2.4khz, that thing will never have a nice modulation in ssb, its for poor people who cant afford better. how much are these in 2022 ? I would say 200€, not much more.
