Because i you give fontsize in 'px' and if you check it in mobile then that size will not like good ...it will become small in size but if you uses "em" for fontsize then it will works respective to your browsers fontsize and not become small in mobile browser.

No vikas, hum vmax ki jagha max-width nahi use kar sakte.... vmax aur vmin viewport ke according kaam karte hai.... magar max-width aur min-width apne relative parent tag ke according kaam karte hai. Agar hum kisi tag par max-width use karte hai toh wo apne parent ki maximum width ke according kar karega.... example uske parent div ki width 500px hai aur jab hum iske child tag ko max-width : 50% denge toh uska matlab 250px hoga... yha par wo browser ki width nahi lega.

1em is not have a fixed value 16px. Its depends upon browser fonts setting. Mostly every browser have a 16px font size setting thats why we can say that 1em = 16px but if anyone change font size settings of browser's setting page to 13px than 1em = 13px
