The YakHacker heavy duty kayak cart is sturdy, has wide wheels, and begged me to test it in mud! In addition to being heavy duty, it is a portable kayak cart and will easily fit in your vehicle. The kayak dolly supported my wide, irregular shaped kayak hull without any problems. I pulled it over rough terrain to get to may kayak launch - through sand, a steep drop and mud. Excellent choice for a sit on top kayak!

Great review! When my son was 3, I bought him an electric John Deere tractor for Christmas, it came with a small trailer. He outgrew it in a few years. I took the trailer and cut front & back off, propane torched the sides down, a couple pieces of romex wire (I’m an electrician), and I’ve been using it to dolly our kayaks for over 13 years. Talk about a Hack! 😂 Crude but effective. 👍👌Thanks a lot! Have a great one Steve!

Another excellent post/review! I have a Hobie Pro Angler 14 (upgraded from the PA 12). I had the Boonedox Landing Gear on the PA 12, but it's heavy and the 14 is even heavier, so I got a trailer. Love the trailer but in a few places I need to haul the Hobie down manually, so use my Dynamic Dolly. But this could be another great option. I especially like how you got the wheels in the middle of the kayak -- I saw a post where the guy explained putting the wheels in the center helps distribute the load. So I'll have to put that on my (long) wish list! Thanks! Roger, the Smiling BassHole

I would not get the boonedox if I had to do it again since there was no way to position them closer to the middle on the Coosa

Looks remarkably like a C-Tug cart. Hopefully no lawsuit in their future. Nice work demonstrating assembly and field testing. Did you try dragging the HD through the mud as well? If so, any issues?

As I watched the assembly part, I thought the same thing about the C-Tug. We have 2 of those with the sand wheels and a kit to widen the carts. It's a very good design overall. The C-Tugs weren't heavy-duty enough to handle our heavy kayak, but do a great job with the canoes and should do well with single person kayaks. I'd say these would do very well too 😊

🤔 Looks a LOT like a Railblaza C-Tug (designed/manufactured in New Zealand), even down to how the cross-members and kickstand assemble. I know the C-Tug (and their other products) is made from reinforced engineered polymers for strength. Any idea as to what this close facsimile is made of? Stainless axles, or something that will rust? Just wondering. :)
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing Жыл бұрын
I do not have the Railblaza to compare it to. The axles on this one are covered in plastic with what looks like a metal rod in the middle
@retnav92
@retnav92 Жыл бұрын
@@KayakhacksFishing Yep, same way with the C-Tug. The axle is partially visible through the plastic housing. Mine would occasionally squeak, so I'd spray a bit of Pam on the axles before attaching wheels.

Hi i was wondering can you use a kayak trolley for inflatable kayaks?
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing Жыл бұрын
Good question. Instead of drilling it on, you would have to find a patch with a ring for the pulley. I do not know if those exist.
@Sssssssslf

@@KayakhacksFishingthe trolley at 1:13 doesn't it attach to the kayak via straps? I was looking at one identical to that one on Amazon UK and I posted a question and the company responded saying that it should be fine for an inflatable one but I'm still confused how the trolley attaches to the kayak! As it doesn't show any straps or attachments on the pictures on the Amazon listing ..so confused!

@@KayakhacksFishing thanks 👍 I understand it now. I'm going to order one along with 4 ratchet straps though I'm not too confident its going to be capable of carrying a 12ft inflatable boat without the stern dragging on the ground, We'll see!

@@Sssssssslf You may want to use one of these. I am doing a review that will go live next week. I will show how quickly it can be assembled with wire lock pins/clips. It would support the entire boat along the center. the other advantage is when launching/retrieving, the boat never touches concrete. amzn.to/3ruqDU4

I hate the boonedox. I never should have bought them since the configuration of the Coosa FD prevents them from being attached near the balance point. I probably have to lift 60 pounds with the front handle as a result of that.

Oh, so many things to say about this: First off your affiliate link to the cart does not work. That is a good thing. I canceled my Amazon subscription because Amazon is filthy with Chinese knockoffs like this Yak Hacker cart. Second - Clearly it is a Railblaza C-Tug rippoff. A cart it a cart is a cart, if it works for you, good onya! But at what expense. Third - C-Tug is about $140, the Yak Hacker is about $80, however BOTH of them have about one dollar's worth of material invested in each cart. Fourth - WOW that is some disclaimer you have in your description! Fifth and Final - putting four more holes in a kayak for strap guides is something that I would not be willing to do. I have the C-Tug (I hate it and no longer use it) I never needed strap guides. Properly tightened down, they are certainly not needed. DON'T PUT MORE HOLES IN YOUR KAYAKS if you don't need them! Look mate, I really like your videos, this is the first time that I have seen anyone demonstrate how to actually get their kayak on the cart, even Railblaza won't show that, because it IS a bit of a pain in the dupa getting centered and strapped down. I have since redesigned a PWC trailer and use it exclusively. I am in and out of the water in about 30 seconds. No assembling and disassembling and cart stowage. I suppose if you want to buy an overpriced plastic mold injected design that is a blatant Chinese rippoff, you should go ahead and support China's corrupt economy. Apparently it's the American way. 🤬
