Awsome review thanks for going into hitch details! I have been wondering if this was a two-man job

My concern is multiple sized bikes/wheel bases. Kids MTB and adult MTB. Doesn’t seem compatible to carry each size at the same time.

My concern is the telescoping adjustment bolt. It’s nice to have that option, but two people could remove the bolt, release the rear tire fasteners, and then simply remove all of the bikes and the upper rack portion with the bike(s) still locked to it. They simply throw all the bikes into the back of a truck and BANG!, all the bikes at once. All you have left is the bottom bracket and swing arm. Can you comment why the additional “long” cable to anchor the entire unit to the hitch isn’t part of the system to begin with? I have bikes worth a shit ton of money, and in the right place, people who understand the value would be quick to capitalize on a weak security blanket. Does it come with either the extendable upper bracket non-removable, and/or the long cable in the box?

Is there an anti-wobble feature like Thule in the component that seeds itself in the 2” hitch?
@peterlang50474 жыл бұрын
In the video he showed the wobble goes away as you tighten the hitch pin

Will this hold e-bike with forks?

Are there any issues with damage being caused to the forks by rubbing on the top rack?
@rackattack2 жыл бұрын
Hello. The fork surfaces are protected by rubberized contact points on the rack. Thanks!

Did I hear this works with suspension forks only? What about road and other type bikes? Thx Yes, know a user that states it does rub frame but can prevent wear on paint by adding some protective strips on the bike itself.

Correct, this is a rack designed exclusively for mountain bikes with front suspension forks, here is the PDF manual with more technical details: assets.yakima.com/sku/instructions/8002484/1

easier and quicker to load from the side as opposed to over the top. this looks like a great rack and the top strap will help keep the bike solid on a rough access road.

Nice I'm interested I live in the UK can you supply and ship it here? Do you also do a 2 bike version ? Thanks.

Do you know if this rack can carry a kids 20" wheel mountain bike
@rackattack5 жыл бұрын
We don't see any specific restrictions to a 20" wheel bike, of course, it must have the suspension fork. If the rack is set up for a 20" wheel bike it's not likely to support longer wheelbase bikes along side it. Here's the complete instruction manual for complete details: assets.yakima.com/sku/instructions/8002484/1

Can you use this with road bikes?
@rackattack3 жыл бұрын
Sadly according to Yakima at the moment the HangOver 4 states in its instructions. Fits suspension-fork bikes only Fits fat bikes with suspension forks. We typically recommend platform racks of any nature over hanging styles due to platforms generally being easier on the frame/paint of the road bikes. Thanks for your great question.

Hello. Yakima has a great track record of long term durability and support to replace worn parts.

Looks like some serious wear points on the top fork area. Say goodbye to your nice paint on your $7,000 MTB. Bummer they didn't think about that, I was almost sold.
@rackattack5 жыл бұрын
It may not show up clearly in the video but the fork crown touchpoints have very thick protective rubber coating.
@thatothersteve5 жыл бұрын
@@rackattack Unfortunately, you get any kind of dirt or mud on there (kind of a given with a mountain bike) and it'll take the paint off your fork crown very quickly. I've experienced this issue consistently with any rack that holds bikes in this fashion. It can be mitigated with the use of some protective tape on the bikes or by being extremely diligent with cleaning - but it's still certainly a consideration for a potential buyer =).
@minitt094 жыл бұрын
yep. I rode with my buddy with his Nore shore Rack which is a similar style rack as this and sure enough the paint took a beating near the crown.

Definitely won’t be lifting my 70 lb ebike above my head like that. That’s a nice 4Runner though!
