May the Force be with you!🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸⭐️

After watching tons of videos about the situation around the world, I start to get a sense that hard work pays off. Up till recently, NYC subway was running the same old routine whereas Taiwan's subway started a rigorous scrubbing schedule, like a few times per hour making the already sparklingly clean stations even shinier. Same goes for buses, stores, schools, etc. Taiwanese already have a reputation of being diligent but this is a whole new level. I think De Blasio got the message and has started cleaning the public places more often. I am sure this is what helped bend the curve downward. So I don't believe that ourbreaks are inevitable neither are lockdowns. It really depends on the efforts of the governments and of each individual. If the WHO had not given exactly wrong advisory, this mess would not have gotten so bad.
@yakitorisutan4 жыл бұрын
I saw a news article yesterday "NYC subway shuts down for the first time in 115 years to clean" and was quite surprised. I THINK they mean that they've cleaned before, and that it's just the first time doing it so thoroughly, but still, wow! It's definitely a contrast, in Taipei even the escalator handrail is sanitized multiple times per day.
@robertos48764 жыл бұрын
@@yakitorisutan , keen eyes. Yes, that was on Wednesday. And you are right in saying that it was the first planned shutdown not the first time passenger service has been interrupted. This is long overdue considering the budget this system uses. It could have been managed better. Hopefully, with this effort, we will save a few more lives. All the best to Taiwan for leading the way. May Cuomo and De Blasio lay down their partisan rhetoric and learn from Dr Chen of the Taiwan CDC who has not taken a day off since January according to the Japanese media.

Roberto S that's true, Chen hasn't What's more, his mother just passed away at the end of last year People here urge Chen to take care and rest well and still he gives his best every day Personally to see Chen like this, it's definitely one of the reasons I'm willing to give up that little convenience for the greater good

When listening to the messages like this, people often confuse the surgical masks that the Taiwanese government is rationing and the regular masks that are widely available when a general term "mask" is used without specification.
@yakitorisutan4 жыл бұрын
S Ah I see. Every time I said “mask” I meant “surgical mask,” but I can see how not specifying makes it confusing! Will remember to speak more clearly in the future
You missed out the point completely. Wearing mask, surgical grade or not, will block majority of bodily fluid from spreading wide open in the public, when sneezing or breathing. Surgical mask, by definition, is gearing for medical professionals who needs to be in close contact, within inches, with patients who already fell ill or have high risk of spreading illness. But normally, people are kept feet away from each other in the public, especially in North America. So, a non-surgical mask is more than enough to block or reduce the spread of bodily fluid to others. possibly reduce from 6 to 8 feet down to inches. To me, the topic of surgical mask was brought up by health officials and politicians to discourage people from panic stock piling in fear of mask supply shortage. Look at this topic from big picture point of view.

Looks like to me is that in tw, the task is run by health care workers w the backing of the politicians. Where in the US or most other countries, politicians run the show w the "help" from the health "professionals" Perhaps you get different results from those two different approaches..
