It's amazing how the first three games in the timeline are all about Kiryu facing other types of dragons. Yakuza 0: Shibusawa. Experienced old green dragon who cannot take the new generation seriously and tries to stomp it out before it can grow strong. Yakuza 1: Nishiki. The koi that rushes up the stream to become a dragon. A rival that should be no match, but by sheer willpower tries to reach the same playing field. Yakuza 2: Ryuji. The golden dragon of the west, a completely different breed that cannot be understood by the eastern dragon, but just equally as powerful and viscious.

The design on Shibusawa's back is a dragon called Seiryu, which protects the east. In other words, it has the meaning of governing Tojo-clan by itself. and the dragon depicted on Kiryu's back is a legendary Chinese dragon that caused a storm in the army that once confronted the Emperor.

The tattoo symbolism is sublime. The two dragon tattoos stare into each other. Shibusawa, a ruthless officer in the Yakuza, has a complete dragon tattoo. Kiryu, the up-and-coming true Dragon of Dojima, only has an unfilled outline. The eyes don't even have pupils. The tattoos themselves are gorgeously rendered and designed. What an awesome game.

Kuze was always the runt of the three. I expected Awano considering all his taunting of Kiryu despite never taking direct action. Because Shibusawa was more involved with Osaka, I expected Majima to fight him. Kinda having them switched.

I finished this game back in July of 2021, but I will never forget the sickness of 4:15. It is the penultimate climax of the entire game, the part where you beat the ever living hell out of the man who put Kiryu through all the troubles. I've seen a lot of comments that say Shibusawa should be beaten with the Legend/Dragon style and I see where they're coming from. But I genuinely believe the most poetic way is to use all 3 base styles during this fight only. Whatever style Shibusawa uses, you use the same and defeat him. By doing so you prove yourself as THE Dragon. Also, Legend/Dragon style feels poetic for Kiwami final boss. So that's where you MUST use it.

That's what I did. I didn't even know Legend/Dragon stance was in the game during then but I used Rush to start, Beast for the second phase and then Brawler for the last phase. If I could go back and redo it, I think I'd probably do the same again. Legend/Dragon stance versus Shibusawa feels wrong because the stance merely exists as a teaser to what Kiryu becomes after 0. Kiryu defeats Shibusawa because he isn't a Legend just yet, he's just a guy and he's using everything he's learned after the events of 0 to defeat Shibusawa. Legend/Dragon versus Nishiki is right though. At the point of Yakuza 1, KIryu's ready. He's the Dragon of Dojima.

Just beat Shibusawa today and that's exactly what I did. Used Rush and Brawler in the first phase, Beast and Rush in the second, Brawler in the final phase, ending with the style we start with.

Just recently got into the series starting with 0, just finished this game yesterday. This whole battle and sequence gave me chills! The amazing tattoo design, the symbolism of Kiryu's tattoo not being colored in and still "incomplete", the fact that Shibusawa has three phases in the fight each mirroring one of your three starting fighting styles.... I just HAD to fight him by matching each fighting style with my own, and finish it with the legend style. Made the battle so epic. I just fell in love with the series, what a game!!

Tuck your non dominant hand inside while you tug your non dominant arm's sleeve, and pull a semi circular pattern over your head, and throw the shirt as you take it off completely Tug your left sleeve if you're right handed, do the opposite if you are left handed, and the shirt musnt be TOO tight, but loose enough to provide airflow. in any game I take the easy way out to boss fights. But in the Yakuza games I can never bring my self to use anything other than fists and in Kiwami 1 and Yakuza 0 I would only use dojima style even at the last mission of Kiwami, I left it for a whole week so I could grind Majima encounters and complete all substorys. Just so I could properly use the right style that would fit the story. Ive never been so commited to fighting a boss in a certain way in any game Ive played. This series is bloody beautiful.
