In head canon yes. (So didn't exist yet, 0 was developed after this.) I like to think So was fighting Majima along with his distant cousin Is. Is has a power suit and they are doing it to bury the family shame.

I somewhat doubt it, seeing as So is Jo's father and Jo is 50 in Yakuza 1 and 61 in 6, meaning So would at youngest be somewhere in his 70s-80s during the main bulk of the series. Plus the fact that Jo is the new patriarch of the clan already implies, that So would be either dead or retired and more than likely done with fighting.

@@InfernusXS According to Yakuza Wiki he was born in 1955, though they seem to have since edited that out, so I'm not sure how legit that information was. However it wouldn't seem that out of place, honestly just par for the course when it comes to Yakuza. You can't really tell how old lot of the central characters are supposed to be based on their looks; Kiryu barely ages from 20 to 48, Saejima looked 50 when he was 20 and doesn't age a day during his 25 year long incarcaration and Majima looks younger in 0, than he does in the flashback from 5, which took place several years prior to it. 'Sides, while it's hard to estimate Amon's age, since we never see his face uncovered, Jo doesn't look so young to me in 0, that I couldn't buy him to be in his early 30s at that point.

@@jondoe7036 Yeah, I wouldn't take something like that seriously unless there was a citation for it. Amon's birthdate is never mentioned anywhere, as far as I know. Honestly, and this is just my opinion. I think there's a large difference between Kiryu's appearance at 20 years old to 48 years old. Enough to reasonably guess his age if you didn't know it. I can't say anything for Saejima since I don't care about the guy, really. And you have to take into account engine differences and how they've model the characters. Looking at an HD picture of Jo Amon in Yakuza 0 compared to Kiwami, which shares the same engine, he has a distinctly different (younger) appearance to me. Usually characters that are scanned to resemble their voice actors tend to not come back, likely it's because these are higher profile actors that aren't as available to return due to budget limits or scheduling limitations. I would imagine that the nature of this sort of deal also results in making sure that these characters have full character arcs in one game and have no need to return later while more original ones like Akiyama and Saejima are free to be used again. As for Hiroki Narimiya. He was framed for doing cocaine by a friend of his, said friend leaked an image of Hiroki sitting in his apartment with some items on a table and it was claimed a pouch and a tray there were cocaine but it turns out it was just some powdered candy that was just sitting there. Despite Hiroki, his agency, and his fans denying and pointing out the false allegations and evidence that he wasn't doing it (including a negative drug test) the tabloid that was covering the story decided to double down and claimed they had audio of him asking for some cocaine. Anyway shortly after Hiroki Narimiya retired from the industry after the drug charges, mostly out of his own desire since his trust was betrayed by a close friend and he didn't like that his privacy could just be invaded like that. Now this all happened in 2016, 4 years after Yakuza 5 came out so this is not the reason he didn't come back for this game, he was already out of the franchise by that point.

Tomas Barber, They seem to be the same animations as Kiryu's style here. I don't see 1-4 animations within them, I just see Jo performing faster attacks like all the other Amons.

@@urieluriel715 You can see in his animations the differences between the old and new style. When Kiryu performs his third strike (the haymaker) he keeps his feet separated and his hand up, as if he were doing a boxing sway. Amon, on the other hand, has his right foot forward and his right hand down, just like Kiryu's old attack animation. His uppercut finishing combo is also a nice example. Kiryu does a haymaker with his right hand and then does an uppercut, all while keeping his hands up and cocking his head back, while Amon does it while lifting one arm and keeping the other down (like Kiryu's old animation styles). If you're not sure about the animations still, just play Yakuza 4 or any other Yakuza prior to 5 and then play 5, 0 or Kiwami. He does smoother moves with his Dragon style after 5.

His moves from 5 onwards, while retaining the same concept (same moves), their animation is different. 1 through 4 shows a lot of stiffness in the animations (they don't look natural), whereas, in the later games, Kiryu performs his moves with a lot more control, and look like actual punches and kicks instead of flaying his arms around.

Strategies for EX Hard: Akiyama: Slash kicks constantly, fire off a squarex3 triangle combo whenever you can. Saejima: Keep your heat up and smash triple charge as always. Saejima is insanely OP. Shinada: Block and sneak punches (no combos) and throws when you can. Meteor tackling/smack him into the wall as soon as he brings out the parasol and misses an attack with it, avoid combos or you'll get hit. When he starts floating, sturdy knife as he isn't programmed to respond to the slashes very well. Kiryu: Wait for Jo to miss an attack, grab him and spam circle to throw him. Pick him up by the head while he's dazed, go behind him and squarex4 then triangle and immediately use a bounding throw with circle to slam him again. Pick him back up and repeat. Whenever he turns red, use your own red heat to attack him since he won't defend at all when he's in red heat mode. Run circular from the parasols.

The final Amon is an absolute bitch, you have to master the Komaki Tiger drop to really stand a chance, as basically no other attack works, except when you can get a throw off. Akiyama, Shinada, and especially Seijima are all relatively easy to get through; but it was infuriating getting through Kiryu's fight.

I just did this fight and I found it not too hard. Akiyama and Saejima are easy. When Shinada's opponent starts fighting like Tendo, the guy with the fireballs, I think you should use the Sturdy Knife if you have it. Also, Jo Amon himself wasn't too hard for me, I just ran away when he went into Heat Mode with the fire trail dash, the Parasols always only hit me on the ground lol; Tiger Drop was really good too, I got like 2 in and just repeated it.

For Akiyama and Saejima I fought them normally: with Shun I just quicksteped around and went full slash kick to chip off his health, Saejima is such a powerhouse the fight is practically a joke. With Shinada I used the durable set: katana or knife vs the pole, pole vs umbrella spamming the O attack from a distance and heat moves. Kiryu, tiger drop till you drop him. Cool vid though, best way to win against these cheesers is to cheese yourself xD

+Nathan Brown A good way to practice Tiger Drop, is to just get into street fights. You want to lock onto an enemy with R1, and right before their attack is going to land, press triangle. This timing is different for each enemy attack, so it takes a lot of practice to both the attacks, and the enemies that use them. You have to be locked on to do Tiger Drop. So if there are multiple enemies, and the one attacking isn't the one you are locked on to, quickly let go and again press R1 and triangle and it will also work that way. R1 only has to be held the moment an enemy attacks, but if you are fighting a single enemy just hold R1 to be sure. Also, make sure to swing the camera to a position where you are comfortable reading the enemy attacks!

I defeated these bastards and God was Jo fucking broken. I did exactly as you did, I had to resort to Tiger Drop to nail some good damage on him, but some of his combos are hard to time out and his shoulder charge is easily the most difficult for being so freaking sudden not to mention my right thumb is busy rotating the camera -_-' had to drink pots to beat him because of that since I couldn't time all his attacks. Still managed to bring down this mofo for good.

I always tell myself to do a quick playthrough on normal, then go for 100% on EX-Hard, but it's impossible for me to do a story only playthrough, especially my first time through!

+Omgitsgodzilla Editing comment since I was on phone just to make it a little more detailed. For Sango, I just did the infinite combo on him. Right when the fight starts do Shinadas Square+Triangle+Circle attack. Then immediately get behind him and keep spamming it. Make sure you hit him on his back because doing it on the front is more dangerous and he will take out his weapon. Also time your attack so by the time he gets up you are already doing the kick. Now lets say he takes out the umbrella. Bait him and once he finishes the spinny move with the umbrella he will do a last attack. That is where you can do the combo again. Repeat and rinse. If he ever takes out the umbrellas make sure you bring any weapon (I chose Sturdy Pipe because it can never break) and once he gets on the floor press Square and then do 2 dodges and hold R1 to block the umbrellas. Repeat and rinse. This fight takes about 5 or 6 minutes so it's not that stressful. For Jo, it is useful to do the Komaki Knee Stun or whatever it's called. When he goes to Dragon Fury mode he will spam Square and this is a good time to tiger drop him. Just to be safe, right after the tiger drop spam X so you evade at the correct time and don't get punished. Oh yeah about that, if he ever does punish you, just spam R1 so Kiryu will be in Guard Break mode and he will take less damage. Compared to not even blocking, you will keep 40% percent of your health. Whenever he does a Finishing Blow after a combo which is what extends Kiryu's combos, it is a good chance to do the Knee Stun. The only combos that would probably work with this is the Square, Square,Triangle+Circle. And the Square, Square, Square, Square+Triangle+ Circle. I will try to record a video with my cheap phone and show these tactics in action.

Yeah man give Devilleon a sub, he uploads tons of cool Yakuza videos! As Kiryu in his town, you need to give Sosuke some cash so he can go to Kamurocho. Then in the later chapters, you'll go to Kamurocho. As Kiryu go to the north side of town to the Ryugojo, and you will start a conversation and after leaving and coming back they will offer to train you. That will also raise the level cap to 25!

You'll train, then offer a carved wooden doll, which is made by combining the chisel and wood that is sold from the trader on the mountain. Then, a rabbit, venison (deer meat), a gold plate, then finally a pin-up magazine from Seico mart in Tsukimino. He'll teach you the Tiger Dragon Drop, which is the best move in the game!

I like how you added a bit more variety in your fight with Jo Amon, but I'm just getting really, really tire of all these tiger knee drop only against Jo Amon (and most especially Ishin.) I do like tiger Knee drop, but not when it is used to the point where you use it most of the time. (unless of course if the boss is really that hard like 3.)

I myself get a little bored of doing the Tiger Drop all the time, but for bosses like this, it's one of the only options that actually works, and it's a skill based move that requires good timing and execution. Akiyama SUCKS, his moveset is great for normal enemies, but for bosses most of his moves just get you destroyed with counter moves by the boss. I wish the game allowed more variety, but if I tried normal punch combos I'd get slaughtered, and most heat moves barely even affect his health bar lol. And since I'm against using health items or weapons the Tiger Drop is practically the only move I can safely and repeatedly do to take care of Amon

I'm doing Akiyama's coliseum fights now, and he's almost entirely worthless. I still don't know why the creators put all these fancy moves into characters that are literally unusable on harder enemies. His heat launcher WILL NOT WORK on a lot of the enemies, Amon included. You can either mash your way through it, use 20 health items or do Counter Kicks until he is dead, and occasionally throw which works too. Same thing with Shinada, he has a Circle button throw parry counter, but it never works since enemies break out of the grab instantly! I'd like to use Akiyama and Shinada, but against anything but normal enemies they were worthless.

TBH Amon is typically my favorite part of these games, but in the past few Yakuza games his fights have been super boring and uninspired. You used to get cool equipable items as well for beating him, now you don't get shit lol

Beating amon requires skill with tiger drop in yakuza 5, and knowing how to use tiger drop is a skill. in kiwami 1 you can beat him in different ways, there are many videos from korean and japanese that prove it. Amon in Ishin is difficult, and beating him without healing items requires skill, because you have to be good at using the sword guard at the right time in the second phase and understand the right moment when you can attack, while in the first phase you can do it in different ways, just look at the Japanese videos. Shin amon in judgment requires skill with tiger drop or combo into ex action and understand the combat system pretty well, apart the last 2 phases. amon in fist of north star, can be beaten in different ways, and doing it without spamming moves or talismans is another matter. for many expert players amon it's the fun part of the series and don't watch the western players, they are all mediocre players, look at the Japanese and Korean players, you will have a different view.
