Don't for get Yakuza Kirwami 2! It has been confirmed to not only remaster Yakuza 2 but will also include a new Storyline where you play as Majima where he will be with Makoto again as she looks for the mysterious person that saved her life in Yakuza 0 which she will later learn is Majima. It will be a full new storyline extending the game and bring a conclusion to Majima and Makoto's story from Yakuza 0.

Yakuza 0 was the best game I played in years, its plot is much better than any movie I have ever watched as well. Since playing it, I finished Yakuza 1 and 2 on my old PS2, bought 3, 4, and 5 and also finished them on the PS3 and now I am itching for more Kiryu Kazuma. This is the manliest franchise you can get, the hype and goosebumping moments before every long battle or boss were all amazing and made me like games again.

Ah. I was able to get the first one when it first came out. I fell in love with kiryu right away. But the franchise had it's hooks in me and I don't regret playing any of them. And I agree. The manliness and goosebumpiness is really incredible. Favorite entry in the franchise?

I agree with most people who say that 0 is the best one yet. I believe 5 is a close second even though the massive amount of content for all the 5 characters can get really out of hand, I felt burned out a few times. I am currently playing Kiwami and I am loving it, the Majima Everywhere thing really cracks me up, Kiryu has never felt this powerful as well, after some upgrades you feel like you could take on the whole Tojo + Omi clans in a barefist fight.

It took almost ten years for Yakuza to be more popular in western countries, i remember back then in ps2 era, i felt so alone talking about this serie that nobody cared, GTA was the hot thing, it was was on every mouth and there was no way i could convince somebody to try Yakuza, because ... well they all wanted to have the same gameplay of GTA but with the japanese setting, so when i said Yakuza experience was not to be a GTA and has his own signature, that was the end of the interest... Now i'm so happy to see so many people wanting to play this serie, it is getting more and more popular, i think it is thanks to how much it has come easy to share your game experience on the internet and how much this help many games to be discovered, back then there was no way that somebody could stream his play, or even share screenshot, there was no famous youtuber sharing this game with his community, even journalist did nothing much to convince people to try this game, i remember review being rushed and not focusing on the unique aspect of this game and having low scores... Yeah a lot of has changed and it was for the better of this serie.

Chris Sukam Considering Y5's frame rate issues I honestly think they had next gen in mind when they designed the engine actually, the PS4 just took too long to be released. Also the ps3 versions of 0 and Kiwami are awful.

@Pervy Sama I disagree. The previous games combat had a lot more variety, there were plenty of different counters, moves and heat actions. In Yakuza 6 it is a monotonous, the ragdooll physics glitches out a lot so it looks hilarious more than awesome most of the time. It also gets really old to punch a bloke in the face and see the same animation of his face crumbling as he flies away.

Brawler has 1 counter that is difficult to pull off I think you get it from upgrading. Dancing is just trial and error. You can taunt to increase heat and I think it was mapped to one of the bumpers on the controller. Weapons are only really good with the second character and even then fists are better.

Looks amazing! A few years ago it seemed unlikely that Sega was bringing out Yakuza 5 to the west, along with the possibility of future iterations not getting translated as well. Fast forward to now and I'm swimming in Yakuza games. God bless you Sega 😭

Dont call it "Open World" Its more like "Open District", theres no driving. Its a street brawler, with amazingly fun mini games, and a very manly and cool story. The game is designed in a very old school way,but compared to modern games, it feels like a breath of fresh air :D Oh, and go out and buy the recently released Yakuza Kiwami, which is a remake of Yakuza 1.

leonthesleepy so first of all, no. Unfortunately you can't play the others on PS4 right now. Though in the video they said that the original is being teenage and released right before this one. Which is the first I'm hearing of that. I'd say the answer's no you won't be completely lost. I played a bit of the original Yakuza but the English voice actors are enough to turn one off to the series. It's that bad. 4 was really really good. I once watched a KZbin vid that went through all the Yakuzas and it gave the opinion of where to start the series if you're brand new. They came to the conclusion that 4 was where a beginner should start. Though 4 is unfortunately also not playable on PS4. But it's been a long time since I played a Yakuza game from when I started Zero, and Zero was what I wanted and needed and I didn't really reflect on the other games. If you can start at 4 id say do that but there's so much cutscene, that the other good option would just be to watch the game's cutscenes on KZbin.

I started the series with 3 (still love going back and strolling around Okinawa) and have also played 4,5, Dead Souls and I am currently playing 0 as I wait for my copy of Kiwami to arrive next week. It's funny people asking for Shenmue when Yakuza is a way better series. It's sad the people don't know much about them and for that I blame Sega. Grab yourself a copy of Yakuza 0 and Kiwami is coming out and get yourself a taste of greatness. The plot and the characters make the game and then you have all these mini games that you can pass your time.

I've just started playing Yakuza 0 and I love that game already. This game looks cool too but I don't know if it will be good though. Combat looks more laggy than it did in Yakuza 0. And I don't like how you don't get money from them either. But I do like how you can just walk into shops and cafes and not have to press x to walk inside. Plus there's no crowd made fighting area either

I know this comment will be very unpopular...but I really think the whole cartoony fighting and silly aspects bring this game down. The world of yakuza 6 is truly breathtaking. I mean the amount of cool interiors and businesses makes this game very unique, it’s kinda like GTA 4 but On steroids. If a game came out identical to this but instead focused on realism and roleplay I’d throw my money at them.

I've played every yakuza title since its first game on the ps2(with the exception of those two Japanese exclusive spin offs), right now I'm playing yakuza 0 but kiwami is already next in line after i finish 0. I'm really anxious to play kiwami cuz I played the first game so many times on the ps2! I forgot to mention that I played yakuza 6 Japanese demo and I can tell that this game is a huge step in the series, a lot was improved!

I've heard that it vastly improves functionality and gameplay, along with being fully voice acted and gorgeous (obvious based on gameplay showings), along with adding stuff like the rts style gang war thing and stuff like seamless random encounters and stuff, however I heard it's shorter than the typical yakuza game and that it's story is a bit lackluster.

I am really hoping you can change the enemy health display location. I hate that it's above their heads now instead of just the bottom corner of the screen.
