This type of video is one of my personal favorites. It's getting people together to discuss a series so you can get different perspectives which is always interesting. It shows how different people enjoy different things which is always nice to see Edit: you guys made a great point about opinions in general that I really wish other people understood. Opinions are subjective. I loathe Yakuza 5. I'll say it till my tongue falls out. However, if somebody comes up to me and says it's their favorite game in the series then that's perfectly fine with me. Everybody enjoys things in their own way. I can say I love the dubs of judgment and lost judgment cause it has some of my favorite voice actors in it like Crispin Freeman and Steve Blum. We all enjoy things in our own way. I just wish other people would realize that

I haven't finished the Kurohyou games yet, but Kurohyou 2 has undoubtedly the best version of Yakuza Mahjong I've played. It shows you a lot more info about your hand before each round ends, plus you get to do a crazy laser attack on someone when you call Ron. I'm bummed that this is unique only to this game because the extra info about the hand you're building is very helpful.

Love this video, not all the way through but just got through the LJ part. Wanna leave my two cents on Lost Judgment because I am one of those guys who won't shut up about it being the pinnacle of RGG anything. I understand why it may not jive with everyone, but that's true for any story under the sun. After all, stories are highly subjective and there is no true claimant to the title of "the best". Lost Judgment resonates with me in a way that very few pieces of fiction ever have, and it's mostly because of how scathing of a criticism it is of not only the government's systems, but also of society in general. This is something Infinite Wealth tried as well, with very mixed results. The effectiveness of Lost Judgment's plot hinges on what you think of bystander syndrome. It's easy to idly comment about any situation until it's happening right in front of us, and unfortunately, most of us would rather turn our gazes away. This is showcased very early on with Koda's bullies and how it acts as a microcosm of the entire story, from beginning to end. People are often too concerned about their own appearances than the right thing, and it permeates throughout the narrative. Kuwana realizes this and fully admits to it. It's what he weaponizes to justify his brand of vigilante justice, and what makes him so compelling is that the audience is more likely to empathise with him because of his almost altruistic motivations. He will admit his faults, but he does tend to hide behind this justification that anything he commits is a fault of the justice system. To an extent, he's right, as shown brilliantly in the court case with Ehara. He can defend *almost* everything he does and the consequences he has to face, except for Sawa's death. It's why Yagami repeats it ad nauseam; he knows nothing else would even faze Kuwana. It's why he doesn't bring up Akaike's death at Soma's hands more than once. Sawa's death is a symbol of why vigilante justice doesn't work; for one, vigilantes, even as skilled and careful as Kuwana, can't account for variables like Soma, the RK, and their ties to the government. For another, vigilante justice is often fuelled not by rational thoughts, but by strong emotions pertaining to the crime in question. It is inherently an irrational way of dealing with crime, which is one of the reasons why judicial systems need to exist. To some extent, Kuwana realises this, but he can't just accept his methods as wrong because the government and the judicial systems don't actually succeed in serving justice. It's a combination of the bystander syndrome, the existing systems' inability to properly act on atrocities and the shocking ease with which society is willing to sweep incidents like Ehara's under the rug. While his targets are reprehensible, Kuwana's methods are not exactly what you would call morally justifiable. He blackmails former bullies, leverages the grief of parents who have lost their children to suicide, and doles out what he considers to be a just fate for guys like Shinya Kawai. It's not a sustainable way of dealing with societal issues, let alone something that inspires a positive change in the society or the world as a whole. Sooner or later, his actions will catch up with him, and without Yagami around to defend him, Kuwana would have been dead in the water before Sawa. The sad thing is, Kuwana's views can't change until the judicial systems receive an overhaul or until people stop obsessing over posturing and do the right thing, and that's why his conflict with Yagami ends in a stalemate. Yagami can't fully convince Kuwana of the follies of his methods because the world is very far from achieving the type of justice that Yagami wishes to be the norm. It's why they fight at the end, and it's why Yagami has no choice but to let him go. Lost Judgment is not a logically perfect story, but it makes several poignant points that have stuck with me years after playing it. Its themes rival LAD's, and as far as social commentary goes, no other RGG title even comes close. Kuwana is the perfect antagonist, Soma is a great villain, and Yagami, despite being largely static in this story, acts as a great paragon antithesis to both of them. I love this game to bits, and I hope RGG does something similar thematically in the future.

5:54:33 my theory is that a judgment 3 would be divided between yagami in Hawaii and kaito in sotenbori since we see him there in gaiden and i can't see rgg putting so much effort in to modernize it and then just leaving it there.
@hackersky3 ай бұрын
that's exactly what I thought it's gonna be, however I think kaito would suit hawaii even more, and he could be there with his family or something like that while yagami is in japan. Kaito was in sotenbori before lost judgment and he probably didn't come back there.

What's crazy about the discussion about 3 is that I really dislike everything that isn't downtime with the kids. I thought the "Yakuza" plot was laughably convoluted even by Yakuza standards. I wish 3 was so much smaller scale from 1/2 and just in Okinawa. I like the idea of a land deed and protecting the kids but most of Kiryu's story would not have changed if it was a local slumlord or an upstart businessman with local Yakuza ties. Mine is a hard carry for the criminal plot of that game that is pretty bad imo and but for how well he was written and performed, Y3 would have an even worse reputation.

Could someone explain to me what speedrun route Froob was pertaining to in the Yakuza 4 section (the RNG thing) i'm not too familiar with the speedrun scene in Yakuza!
@Froobs3 ай бұрын
Old route: 13 Revolvers was faster. To get the money for these we needed to do gambling. The quickest one (and easiest to set up) is Roulette. We get the Zero Jewel from Kotobuki Drugs before we go to the Millenium Tower in Kiryu 4-2. We then get all the money we need (100k for the chips) go through the Akiyama-Tanimura fight which is about 2 and a half hours into the run. You then go to the Purgatory Casino Hall and use the Zero Jewel to make it land on either 0 or 00. There's zero way to tell which it's going to land on. It's a literal 50/50 gamble 2 and a half hours into the almost 3 hour run. You win you can purchase 20 platinum plates to sell for over 3 million and then go purchase 13 guns New route: We buy baseball bats and go swinging. That simple lmao

When it comes to K1, I personally think that if you're the type of player that got into the series with Y0 and the game you pick up immediately afterwards is K1, you're probably going to have a bad time. That's because even as a beginner you can easily get through Y0 without having a full grasp of the game's battle system, but K1 is unplayable for beginners, which makes it very easy to hate. Might be a skill but that's how I felt at the time. I bet that if I went back to it now that I've played most of the games in the series I'd have a hell of a better time.
