Thank you for sharing this video while I don’t plan to install sonar you really help me understand how to run wire for a solar panel up on top of the roof. You did an excellent job with the install. It looks fantastic.

Do you take it way out in the ocean? Or why did you make these upgrades?

We boat on deadliest lake in the US. Lots of crazies here. People fly at 80 mph on jetskies at night with no lights. Last summer we witnessed a two boat collision at dusk near marina entrance that claimed 2 lives. After that we decided to invest into traffic detection technology.

@@tiverton Thanks for the reply. Would you tell us a bit more? Does it work? Is the idea that you can see a jetski coming at you at night... but then what? How would you know it's coming to you? I'm intrigued but confused a bit!

This radar tracks targets, shows their bearing and speed. The once on the collision course are marked red. And you get a warning. Then the FLIR camera can be locked onto that target and you can see what's there. Things you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. It has many other uses, like seeing debris floating on water, shoreline navigating dark inlets and marinas.

@@yippikiyay197 It was about $11,000 for everything. Mast, radar, FLIR with remote,, chart plotter, sonar transducer, GPS antenna, 9-axis compass, network box, and some other small hardware items. I installed it myself. I would recommend it.
