You should consider picking up a battery maintainer my friend. That is the best way to increase the longevity of your stator, rectifier, battery, and starter. Notice at 5:22 your battery is showing 12.24 volts. That is a fairly discharged battery. When you start this bike, your stator is going to full output to try and recharge the discharged battery. That is a common reason why a stator burns up. If you were using a battery maintainer, the battery would be at 100% charge when you start the bike. That makes life so much easier on the stator, rectifier, battery, and starter. My 2000 R6 has almost 30,000 miles on her with the original stator and rectifier. Sounds like your R6 is running lean. I have some videos on my channel that could help you fix that problem if you are interested. Nice bike by the way. I like the red and white paint scheme!

Hey thanks for the comment and good knowledge, as a automotive mechanic I agree with what you're saying, and I often had the battery out of the bike and on a maintainer, but battery was getting old and wasn't 100% anymore, and eventually I sold the bike, I barely rode it just simply didn't have time, although I did really enjoy riding it and always got compliments about it being very nice, perhaps one day I'll get another!

@@GearScar I hear ya. That was one sweet looking R6 you had though. Not easy to find them in such good condition anymore.

Hay so I know this is an old comment but I have this vary issue with my 02 R6. Safe to assume it’s the same issue I did the ohm test and it’s good. Save voltage for all three plugs... thanks if you see this guys

Got my r6 out the weekend, batteries always on optimizer , went to work fine, on way home exactly as you described, clocks went off, couple of minutes later it cut out. Was lucky as at top of a hill. Let it sit a while and battery come back up a little, just enough to get ignition and take immobilizer off, then bumped it down the hill and made it home. Some testing to do when get time but already suspected it's the same fault.

thank you for the video, hope this helps, coz my r6 has the symptoms.

Cool video but the test you showed isn't testing the voltage regulator rectifier. You need to perform a reverse diode test or resistance test to check this on the rectifier itself. Glad it was the rectifier though, stator is much more PITA to work with :)

Hi. 2002 R6. Something is blowing out da 30 fuse on da positive terminal. I was looking for da wire harness because da fuel pump is not putting out da proper fueling. Any suggestions? Zack

Ran into the same issue replaced the stator and rectifier for about 60$ and got it back up and running... I would also recommend checking battery and the wires connecting to the stator and rectifier to make sure they’re not fried
