Yamaha 8HP 2 Stroke Outboard Engine Tuning, Running Slow Under Load

The Yamaha 8hp 2 stroke outboard was only running half speed under load during our Paradise Catamaran sea trial so we took it to the local Yamaha repair shop and had a super tune up maintenance job done on it and now it is a sweet and smooth running MONSTER !!!

New plugs seem to do the trick.. Awesome!

I would have looked at the plugs and thought they were good but the tech went for the plugs first thing and got it right 😁

I like how the owner keeps telling the technicians how to do their job. If you already know everything why take it to a technician. 2 stroke motors fowl spark plugs much easier that 4 stroke motors. Being a cheap skate over a couple of spark plugs is dumb. blowing all the water out of the test barrel will also buy yourself an impeller from running it dry.

Oh this is painful to watch. Takes it to an expert, yet telling them how to do their job! Mate, you try that in my workshop and you're taking your outboard straight back home to repair it yourself!!!

shame he coldnt tune it while on your boat, barrels work good but we cant really load them down, it did run alot better an did hit 5 grand, half a bucket of water tho, im sure they got it close enough for you to tweak it out on your boat, you know how to play with mixture on the needles on the carb, not a big deal an itll be a nice boat ride for yall, stay well captain

Yes the sea trial will be the ultimate test, i will leave the tach on the engine so I can see if it can hit 5500 rpm when pushing the boat. 😁🌊💦⚓🛥️

@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 its nice to have a tach just to see what rpms itll be happy with crusing an you can do mileages an stuff, those are some of the best yamahas ever built in the small hp, the four strokes arent as smooth lol, cant wait to see yall go out an catch a few fish with it, what a beautiful cat, i bet you could rig it to sail to very easy

@@BeamerTheFox Yes the main plan is to do some fishing, I thought about one of those kite like sails when the wind is right, that will be another project 😁
