With the final components arriving from Asia (22"x18" kick and 08"x07" and 16"x15" toms) my dream monster drum kit is finally complete 🥳❤️💪!! Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple in Jade Green Sparkle 💥. 08"x07", 10"x07", 12"x8", 14"x13", 16"x15" toms 22"x18", 20"x16", 18"x14" bass drums 14"x6" snare drum Maple shells with an inner ply of wenge wood. Hook lugs, Yamaha aluminum die cast hoops. YESS III tom mounting system. I am super happy, the kit sounds, feels and looks incredible 😍🥰.

Even though I'm playing top end sonor snares most of the time, I do dig the absolute Hybrid Maple, it's so crisp and cracking, very full sound. Love it more and more everyday

@@SimonSpringerMusic wood ages and sounds better. I have 3 Yamaha kits, including the club custom they no longer make. Quite possibly the best drums Yamaha quit making. The wood is extremely hard to work with but ages like fine wine. !

I have the AHM Orange Sparkle, 22x16, 10x7, 12x8, 14x13, 16x15 and absolutely love these drums. Am considering either the addition of the matching snare, 20 BD or an 8 tom. Your set up is superb! Sounds wonderful and really helps these great drums sing!

Your drums and playing sound great! Got a great deal on a set of Yamaha AHM last year in Polar White. IMO, they are perfect sounding drums. I bring my 22"x18" bass drum to gigs and it's so worth it because that extra bottom end is so important to your sound. A few yrs. ago, I did a classic rock gig with a 20"x14" and that was the last time I ever used that sized bass drum for any rock music. That extra punch in the 22"x18" is so necessary.

Wonderful drums. Here in Argentina Yamaha does not have a strong presence so they are almost impossible to get. If they were more common here, this is the drum set I would have. Thanks for such a nice video.

Congrats on completing the kit! I play a yammy Oak Custom bought it 10 years ago: 22 kick, 10, 12 rack toms, 14 and 16 floor toms. I finally added a 18" stage custom kick drum last year, mainly for gigging in small venues. Yamaha makes great drums for sure! I have a question in regards to snare drum selection. Do you have any guidelines or experience you can share of how you choose snare drum you would bring to a gig? I currently have 1 snare: a yamaha recording custom 14 x 5.5 aluminum. I would like to add a wood snare to my arsenal. Unsure if i should get another 14 x 5.5 or a deeper snare like 6.5 Thank you Simon for putting the content together. Have a great day!

Thanks man 🥳🙏. Man, Oak customs are great as well ❤. Congrats on that kit 💪. With snares, it's complicated. I have too many 😉. Or not enough 😅?! It's a bit like ride cymbals or hi hats, you just want to have more colors in your arsenal. The recording custom alu is a great drum! Will have to add that one to my collection at some point. I am not a super fan of deep snares. I prefer 6" and downwards more. 5" is kind of my favorite. Also like 4" and 3.5" 😉. Then again, I don't play in a, let's say ACDC tribute band or so. There, a deeper snare might be the right choice. I am more for the Vinnie Colaiuta 90ies fusion crack and for that, shallower snares provide more snare wire definition and crack. But maybe it's a phase and I will love deep snares in a couple of years 😉. Choosing the right snare for the gig depends on: the music/genre, the venue and my mood 😉. I sometimes prefer wood snares for jazz, I like metal snares for crack. Diecast hoops (heavy non alu ones) are in my opinion too loud for smaller venues. And so on... Hope, I could help 😉. Great video and sound! Did you have any particular reason for choosing a 22x18 as opposed to 22x16 or 22x14? There is a AHM snare in the vintage natural finish on sale at my local drum shop and you might have convinced me to go grab it

Thank you 🙏. Oh man, the question of the right bass drum depth had been driving me crazy for months 😅. In the end, I thought the 18“ depth would be the right addition to the 16“ of the 20“ and the 14“ of the 18“ kick. So my kick drums grow in diameter AND depth. Additionally, I love my 22“x18“ birch custom absolute kick. And you can’t go wrong on that snare 💪.

All Remo. Coated Ambassadors on snare and toms. Clear ambassador on toms reso. Clear Powerstroke 3 on the kick.

Since you made the videos on your AHM drums I changed my Live Custom kit for an AHM kit. I have 8x7 10x7 12x8 16x14 22x18 and the 14x6 snare. Absolutely one of the very best kits if not the very best kit I have ever owned. In particular the snare is absolutely fantastic and is definitely one of the greatest snare drums ever! 🤘😎🥁🔥👍

Is not crazy to order a 13' tom or a 18" floor tom or a 24" bass drums...they are standard in a bank shell set! I ve a Maple Custom bank sell set, 13" for me is a basic tom 🙂

That's tuning, muffling and mixing. I like a shorter sustain. You can tune those drums to ring for a couple of minutes, if you want to 😉...
