Yamaha Blaster High idle, Running Rich

help wanted tell me what i can do to fix my blaster runs very rich and idling high if low on gas also the throttle is sticking if you rev it up high if i pul the sparkplug off after 1 hour of riding the spark plug s completely black and if i pull it off after like 3 hours it has black suit all over it

I had the same problem when my 02 blaster overheated and my problem was the top end was loose from running to long. my advice is tightening it and making sure all of your bolts are snug.

It revs high because it's leaning out when the fuel is low and it's lean not rich probably to small of a jet

Update I got it fixed what i did was put a 300 main jet in it got a new throttle cable and cleaned and re oiled the air filter which i think that is why it was not getting any top end power and why it was not hitting the power band it now runs like a bat out of hell ill get a new riding video shortly

2 strokes rev if u run them out of gas so dont do that. The hanging idle when u rev it is because its rich

Adjust the idle and the air and check the fuel because if it’s low it will do it

If you're low on gas it's supposed to rev up or if it's cold it should and you need new throttle cable and if your burning rich probably has something to do with the jet on your carb

Yup it's because I put it bk together and found out by your video the cable was not put back properly 😂

you should have a 300-320 in it bro 260 is way to lean your air mixture screw is in 2 far which is why your fouling plugs

Try lubricating In the throttle cable box and the throttle cable. also look at the idle adjustment on the carbourator. I had the same problem

Marshals Fishing 32:1 fuel ration its something like 4oz of 2stroke per gallon. would recommend yamalube but any will do.

ive had a blaster ever since I was five it not properly mixed gas u need a new throttle cable and lower the idle screw some then put new gaskets on there that should help with it having no power band and mine never idles high when low on gas

The power band is not a real thing, it is a saying to describe where in the RPM range a peaky engine produces most of its power. Say an engine doubles its power between 8 and 9000 RPM, and keeps that power to around 11 000 RPM, then that engines powerband would be between 8500 and 11000 rpm

Aaron Groetecke ik this is three years old but I really need help rn since u said u have had a blaster since you were five. I just rebuilt mine with all new gaskets and seals I also beat the crap out of the clutch side seal bc it wouldn't go in so thinking it could be that learning blaster are sensitive to those. My blaster runs rich like the plug is black and whatever. But it feels like it isn't as fast as it used to be and when it is supposed to hit power band it revs really high until you shift and it also revs high at idle and also if you give it gas at idle the thing will rev to the moon until u force it to shut off. IDK what it is really need help video of it idling on my channel also in the video I got the thing to idle better another thing to say is that there is a bad exhaust leak

Mine does too!!! When i get low on fuel, and i hear the idle go high, that basically means (OH FUCK I GOTTA GET MY ASS HOME). XD

Update: if it idles high and you're low on gas, DO NOT try to get home. High revving on low gas is lean runaway. If you don't manage it properly, you could blow your engine. Shortly after i made my previous comment before this one, i encountered lean runaway. At the time i didn't know wtf to do, because i didn't know about lean runaway at the time. Ran out of gas, engine revved high, i tried getting back home, engine then screamed at ridiculous rpm. Flipped killswitch, NOTHING!!! Pulled clucth and decided to see if it would shutoff. It didn't. Then i popped clutch, and it stalled really quick. ATV made a weird rattling noise when i cranked it, and it wouldn't run. But still had compression. Lucky for me, it was just a sheared woodruff key on the flywheel. But it could have ended up with an exploded piston or something terrible like that instead!!! When you have lean runaway, the steps are.... First, IMMEDIATELY FLIP THE KILL SWITCH OFF.. Next, shift into gear (preferrably a higher gear like 2nd or 3rd) with clutch held in all the way.... Then, press rear brakes really hard, to lock up the drive axle. Finally, carefully release clutch with the rear brake held down. Don't pop the clutch, that could shear your flywheel key like i did. Release it at a medium speed. Not a pop, but not super slow either. Wait till the engine stalls out. Once it's completely stalled, check your fuel. If you were on normal fuel position, and you also have reserve fuel, switch it to reserve, wait about 30 seconds for the carb to fill with fuel, then start it with choke first and then turn off choke. Then GET YOUR ASS HOME AND REFUEL!!!! I made the mistake of trying to keep riding during lean runaway. I'm lucky i didn't blow my engine. Lucky for me, all that happened is i sheared my flywheel key.

Yea Mine too mine idles high when gas is low and I think it does that because the gas wasn't properly mixed .

your running lean. you dont need a 260 main jet! as long as your not running the thing in sub zero temps with a open air box. the stock 230 main jet is fine even with a exhaust. i dont know why everyone thinks you have to have to put bigger jets in for an exhaust. now if you were running a open air intake on it then yea your going to want to change jets. put the 230 back in it and then see where your at. also it looks like your cable is bad. also check your fuel mix. also remember bigger jets require different mix.

dude adjust your idle that is why it is sticking. and adjust your idle its easy i could fix this quad in minutes
