Great review as always. Yamaha has always made great audio equipment even with their entry level / budget lines. You can't go wrong with Yamaha, no matter what your budget is. Earlier this year I replaced my Yamaha Surround Receiver, Stereo Receiver and CD player with upgraded units. The older ones are still being used as secondary setups. They last a long time. . A very merry and peaceful Christmas and New Years to you and all your staff.

Great. Video Sir! My question is does this have a built in DAC like the Yamaha CD S303 CD player
@TLPCHC9 ай бұрын
Yes - By design all CD players have a Digital to Analouge Converter. Otherwise it is a CD "Transport"

Definitely will be purchasing. Is it safe to place the R-N2000A on top of this CD player?

The RN-2000 is heavy. It will be OK, but I don't recommend that you put something that big on the CD-C603

I was considering getting one but those little tiny square buttons are horrible. What can't they add the nice wide buttons like they did in the 90's? They must be cutting features to meet a price point.
@TLPCHC6 ай бұрын
The buttons work fine. Maybe set up your on CD Player manufacturing company, and make one with big buttons?

I have now had a GOOD play with this new unit. It does not have a "Random across all CD's" feature. It plays one CD randomly, then plays the nest CD randomly. Weirdly... I recall the older CD-C600 playing randomly accross all CD's. So this seems to be a feature lost.

What a handsome unit. I have the S303...wondering now if I should have waited for the C603.
@TLPCHC6 ай бұрын
I guess it is the basic question of Multi vs Single disk. The CD-C603 is very deep - so might not fit all set ups
@carriestuart99216 ай бұрын
@@TLPCHC Yes and no. If it has the same DAC as the S303, and isn't much deeper than it is wide, then I think a lot of traditional open shelf style racks would accommodate it adequately. The only reason I bought an S303 was because my original CDX-700 (circa 1987) decided it didn't want to read and initialize CDs anymore after loading. At first when I tried to replace it with another Yamaha (as my vintage receiver and cassette tape deck are both Yamaha units) I was informed by the retailer that Yamaha had stopped manufacturing CD players!! That was true, apparently, for a short period of time. My options were Pioneer or Cambridge Audio. Initially I bought an entry level Pioneer unit that served me fine, but when I became aware that Yamaha had new CD players available again, I jumped at the chance to add a new Yammy to my existing family, and donate my Pioneer to a close friend. Now, I'm contemplating purchasing a stand alone DAC and running the S303's optical output through it, thinking I might improve upon the sonic qualities from it.
