Chaotic improvisation indeed, but the 70s Vangelis vibe is really evident. Congrats.

This instrument is amazing. And you make it sing. As someone else posted, it's incredible to think that an electronic instrument so old has still not been matched by anything since. I've never heard anything else with such an otherworldly sound. It's a shame these things will eventually wear out cease to exist. I hope someone like u-he can fully capture its essence one day.

thankyou! and you know this particular Cs80 was so pristine it looked like it just came out of the box- I was so pleasantly surprised and shocked by it's condition-spotless - it was owned by a well known artist I can't name, but to put your worries at rest, the cs80 will be around for a long time yet;-)

u-he ain't gonna capture this. They don't even make the best digital synths out there. I'm going to have to go to Switzerland to rent some time on one of these. They are SO retro 70s and 80s, but still nothing else like them. It's a weird contrast, retro and yet the top of the heap.

Finally I managed to watch your channel with peace of mind!!! What a composition!!! An improvisation masterpiece... worthy of the greatest composers of the 80s!!! The track takes me to another dimension and it's a real pleasure to see you play!! These are my favorite tracks, the ones that come from the soul of the player. The CS80 is truly MAGNIFICENT, how lucky to have been able to play it!!! I am really happy to have met you my friend and I wish you all the best!!! Continue to create these AMAZING tracks :) :) :)

The phrase "you can't play a CS80 without sounding like Vangelis" seems to follow this synthesizer wherever it appears. I would ask why would you not want to sound like the legend that is Vangelis if the opportunity arose to play the legend that is the mighty CS80? A really tremendous tribute to both - thanks.
@foto21 Жыл бұрын
I'm gonna be cocky and say I can play it and not sound like Vangelis, but have yet to get my hands on one to prove it.

My brother, you make my heart so glad with what you play and the sounds you make. So good to get another video from you, it's been way too long. Wow, all those vintage instruments! You must have gone nuts. And that CS80. I remember Kate Bush was very fond of it, used its whistle sound on a number of tracks. Now that I've reached my dotage , I find myself feeling alone with my ancient fandoms, things seemingly no one would even remember, if they ever knew about them. Finding a guy who resurrects the Vangelis magic of my youth is therefore an unexpected treasure. I don't know if you've ever spoken to him, but I really feel if he heard your stuff he'd be happy in knowing someone will carry the torch after he's gone. Cheers.

Sounds fantastic! Question though: In addition to all the big, rich pads and buzzy leads in your stuff, I'm also always blown away by the twinkly little EP sounds that come in from time to time, like at 4:26. Really stands out in the mix. What reverb do you put on that? Also, what's the lead starting at 8:56? CS80? Thanks. And thanks for making videos again!

Amazing...What an opportunity, it's like driving a Ferrari. Out of interest How did the sound compate to your esq 1?
@mik300z8 жыл бұрын
Benjamin Budts great question! let me put it this way- the Esq requires a bit of work to replicate the sound but it does a good job - having 3 oscillators and the dynamics you can apply to it- The CS80 I also had to apply those same techniques that I had learned from the Esq 1. but when it happened... wow..the depth of the sound was incredible. only wish I had more time with it! one thing I really did notice The CS80.. when you manually adjust the detune slider at the left of the controls. this makes the Vangelis sound.
@bennethos8 жыл бұрын
Tx for your prompt reply. Just bought a DSI pro-2, can't wait to test a brass patch on it. Lots of possibilities. You can add a type of character to the osc to increase the low end for instance, add the random out of tuneness,...
