And my job is to provide the music in the factory. I'm like the dj. So , after working on my music here in the studio for a bit, I trot up to Ken's, run the machines, as in putting the parts (usually aluminium) into the vices, press play...and do it over and over til my shift ends. I always have tunes on the speakers tho. Always.

Yes indeed it is a rare thing. Ken is a genius, he is an engineer, I would say he figures out how to shape a piece of metal into a precise thing of beauty...that's the only way I can describe it.

This started out with something that sounds like the human voice "ah" sound produced by a Roland VP-330. Then we hear that drum sound that reminds me of New Order. Finally, at 0:37 the epic, CS-80ish synth brass made its grand introduction and it hit me .... VANGELIS!

@marcbrasse74716 күн бұрын
@@mik300z Only if you mean the no-existant Kilkenny in the eastern part of the Netherlands. And no, I do not play it enough. Ever since got it years ago I have always been a bit too much in awe of it and too afraid it breaks down to use it regularly. I have however learned an awful lot from it. My main setup, which I named Starship One, consist of a 3 keyboard, 1 ribbon controller, 1 foot baspedal contraption. The main keyboard is an Elka Mk 88 with poly touch. The synthesiis engines I mainly use are the Technics WSA- 1 acoustical modeling synth and a CS80 / GX1 “clone” I built up inside Bitwig Studio’s The Grid,mwgichnI call Grail One. It’s an almost perfect representation of the CS80 with granular sampling and resonator modeling sections added to it. I also heavily modified a Yamaha E70 organ to turn it into a (sort of) fully programmable GX1 clone. The initial reason to start on that was was to learn more about the underlying Yamaha technology to get more or less proficient in maintaining the CS. You can look it up under Son Of GX and find out more about me on the way. So, to cut a long story short: One does not need the real thing to live it, as you have proven throughout the years yourself. I’ve been a fan of your music for a long time. So if you ever visit the Netherlands… 😁

@@mik300z I've sent you a long answer but it seems to have been removed. In short: I live in the Netherlands. No, I do not play it regularly. Too afraid it will break down.
