I’m having the same issue with oil leaking from driver side of rear end. From what I’ve read, you will need to take rear end out and split it to replace internal seals that’s leaking causing oil To bypass. Have you heard of this ?

If it’s leaking from the drivers side where I show the bearing is located, you likely have a bad bearing too. The bearing is the seal on each side. The only other seal is the seam where the transaxle splits in the middle.

@@TightWadDIY there’s more seals. I’ve checked the Yamaha parts list. It won’t let me post the PDF file here.

Are we sure that the transmission oil travels into that cavity? This is a sealed bearing. Also, there's a weep hole at the bottom of that cavity. Any oil from the trans will just drain out onto the ground.

The sealed bearing is actually what prevents the YamaLube from leaking out of the transaxle. I have another video showing how to disassemble the entire transaxle to replace the brake plates.

@@TightWadDIY Thanks for the response. I think I understand what you're saying but there's a hole at the bottom of this cavity. If you reach under the trans casting just beyond the bearing you can feel it. You can also see it from both inside and outside. It's on both sides. I was able to pass a pick tool up through the hole as well. Any fluid in that area will just leak out onto the ground.

@@GrillThisSmokeThat Not sure if you meant to post a link with that but I don't see one. Maybe I should be more clear. I did the job myself. There IS a weep hole at the bottom. It's on both sides of the trans. Left and right. Any oil in this area will drain out this hole. I'm just trying to understand here. I don't think there is any oil in this cavity. If there was, it would be on the ground...period. This hole appears to be located inside the bearing. Meaning before the bearing working from the trans out toward the wheel.

@@Swegen7 Sorry I realized I commented from the wrong account. GrillThisSmokeThat is my other account. When my bearing blew out, all of the YamaLube oil leaked out of the transaxle. This is on a 2007 YDRE meaning the electric model. Here is the link I intended to send previously. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYa0pYJ7bc2og80
