OMG. Fabulous review. You speak at the perfect pace and you touched on most of the important functions that people want to know about. The only thing I just can't seem to find out, is weather or not one can mute the drums on songs that are either on-board, or imported. THANK YOU!!!
@PcPilot826 жыл бұрын
kimbybean001 I know you can for the songs that come with it not sure on imported ones

I layered snare drums and kicks on my kit and increased the hi frequencies and it was magical. I put the sensitivity gain of the cymbals to 1 and increased the sustain and decreased the decay on the hi hat. VST quality sound no joking. This kit is amazing (only if you know how to do some tweaking with the sounds)

Tinkering with the module. Don't worry if you mess up you can always reset everything to default. Everything I found from the manual.

Bill Perri I think the samples used for the Yamaha are better than Roland but they trigger like shit. Roland has great triggering but crappy samples. I would say my kit is just as good as a TD-11. You can just use a VST program to have a different sound which is way better like Addictive Drums 2, Steven Slate drums, Ezdrummer 2 etc...

Can anyone recreate a shimmering effect from striking the closed hi hat and quickly release the pedal to finish a note? I have a DTX522 with DTX502 module and I can’t seem to recreate the sound. I called Yamaha tech support and no reply from them yet.
@brianlampe755 жыл бұрын
The splash sound should be a factory sound - you may need to play with sensitivity settings or something. The 502 manual says " Hi-hat splash sounds Depressing the hi-hat controller’s pedal and then immediately releasing it produces a hi-hat splash sound. "

Literally over half the video dedicated to an apple OS app that I won't be able to use, so is ALL of that functionality available through the module as well or do I not get to do those things if I don't have an Apple device?
@SonicYM26128 жыл бұрын
+John Smith Pretty sure everything's accessible on the module too, would be pretty pointless if it wasn't.

I used to use the app for editing on my dtx 522k, but then my cable stopped working (you would need a printer cable to connect the drum to the device). For saving a few bucks, I stuck with using my module and it's very easy. They make the module settings LOOK difficult, but it's really easy.
@SonicYM26128 жыл бұрын
I own it now and can confirm that all functionality is accessible through the module. :)

from 1:50, is the sound pre-set? or did you customize? It sounds really nice and my DTX522K doesn't sound like it.

522 but the module is 502?....how does the app talk with a 522...(something that conveniently is overlooked...oh i get it you gotta buy the 502)....and if anyone who knows this software and hardware...is there anyway in the 522 i can get my 2nd tom to stop playing a cymbal ......and that if pull the cymbal back...then i simply lose cymbals all over the kit....any thoughts or even thoughts on where i can get the manual from.....the 502 does....but i was watching this because it was 522.........what gives.....
@brianlampe755 жыл бұрын
When you guy the dtx522 kit it comes with the 502 module. For the crosstalk - first make sure none of your toms, etc are touching each other. Check the cymball sensitivity. Check the crosstalk levels. Google yamahadtx forums or check facebook, there are a couple yamaha specific electronic drums groups.

I have this. The module is not good enough for pro play. Trust me you need a upgrade the module. Also apps are trash for this. Last but not least is the high hat is trash feels terrible. However for price and just to play and have a kit or 2 maybe 3 sound kits you like Kool. Sounds are good but pro players will find its not enough.

The trick is not to go for one with gimmicks. Changing parts of a backing track by hitting a pad? Give yourself a couple practice sessions and you'll be over it.
