Wow I was totally expecting a shrill tinny sound from that speaker, very pleasantly surprised. Definitely going to pick one up in the coming months.

Same with me. I didn't expect such a powerful sound from this tiny speaker. Can easily practise without connecting it to good speakers or headphones.

Price now is 225€, which is closer to its real value. I got one at this price and it is a nice unit. My only complaint so far is that the kick is too low volume on some sets using the internal speaker, which makes it unuseable on those sets as stand-alone. BTW mine came also with not charged battery, as yours
@RainerMuenz
@RainerMuenz 2 ай бұрын
Yes, the reduced price is very fine. I was surprised to see that drop so early. Can't you chance the volume on an individual level? I can't remember if this is possible.

@@RainerMuenzI have studied the manual a bit and, yes, there is the possibility to increase the sensitivity on the full set of pads, but I don't see the way to do that for only one pad. What I have found is that using left thumb for KICK instead of doing it also with right hand, lets me get a louder sound out of it... As I am still learning the basic things, maybe for my playing it is better that way. What I don't want is risk my technique because of that (I have followed the YAMAHA intro videos and they use the right hand for KICK, SNARE and HI-HAT). I will keep trying...
@RainerMuenz

@JoseVGavila I see. Thanks for explanation. I wasn't sure if the volume is a global setting for the kit or flexible for pads. This would make sense for a firmware update.

@@RainerMuenz Found it !!!. Just select Menu -> Trigger then press ENTER and then, with the arrows, go up to ADGain. By default, each PAD is 46. I have upped KICK to 60 and lowered SNARE1 and SNARE2 to 40, and that alone feels pretty better!. Now I will fine-tune it

@@RainerMuenz I wrote a message and it has dissapeared!. Let's try again... I have found it !!!. The way to do it is by pressing MENU -> Trigger then press ENTER and then, with the arrows, locate ADGain. It is 46 by default for all pads. You press each pad and can select an individual value. I have set it to 60 for KICK and 40 for SNARE1 and 2 and it feels lots better. I will fine-tune that, but it is a big advance for me

Like the old beat boxes of the past, I'm hoping this allows the user to construct their own drum patterns/sequences and or loops and string them together into complete songs. If so ... I need this. Although, not having dedicated left and right audio outputs could be a problem for some. Maybe I'm a bit too old school for this, IDK.
@RainerMuenz
@RainerMuenz Жыл бұрын
You can upload your own samples as well as audio files, so you can make your own drum kits and play them to your own (or any other) music. You can record that on a USB flash drive. So this way you can make complete songs. But to my understanding it is not a groove box, so "programming" sequences might not be possible (not absolutely sure, to be honest). But you can connect it to your computer and a DAW. This might a way to make loops or sequences. Concerning the outputs, I use the headphone output to connect it with my mixing desk. I use a 3,5 mm stereo Y cable to 2x 6,3 mm mono jacks and noticed that - depending on my play - the left and right channel have individual levels. So at least there is a kind of stereo or pan effect.

I'm thinking of buying. When used as a midi controller, is it possible to freely program all the available pads and controllers (buttons) or just the pads?
@RainerMuenz
@RainerMuenz Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the 8 coloured pads can be programmed as well, with the effects and functions you need during your performance. I haven't tried so far but it seem quite flexible, what I understood in Yamaha's demonstrations.

@RainerMuenz
@RainerMuenz 11 ай бұрын

Q. could you demonstrate the humanize function for how a pad plays on repeated strikes? Effect of hitting the same Pad repeatedly Item (Display)DescriptionSetting RangeHumanizeWhen this is turned on (1-4), a natural variation is applied so that the Voice is not too uniform when the same Pad is hit repeatedly. The effect becomes greater as the value increases.Off, 1-4

The biggest letdown is the micro-USB. It should be USB-C, but if not that, I prefer the older USB-B full size because it is much tougher than micro-USB and easier to plug in correctly

I am not a professional player so hard for me to decide. My impression is that the sound quality is very good. As good as drum kits sounds in Yamaha keyboards. The internal speaker can be loud but probably it's necessary to use a mixer and PA for best sound. Should work well.
