A cheap solution to your heavy clutch problem : change the cable for the "FZ6 Naked version" one. The root cause of the issue is the metal curve just right after the lever, since it´s so closed. The suggested part doesn´t have that curve. I also enjoy a bike like yours......regards from Argentina.

Great suggestion. I changed to the FZ07 lever arm, (very little change) a new spline shaft (no change) a new stock cable (very little change) and then I got a pressure cable lube tool and that worked great (who knew that new cables from Motion Pro have no lube) . . for about a year. Now the heaviness is back (lube does not help like before). I did notice this clutch cable has a lot of sharp bends (at the bars and also mid way near where your left knee rests).. Sounds like you remove one of the sharp bends and it is more like a normal cable. I think that is the main cause of the heavy lever..

After 5 yrs I'm pretty happy with my FZ6 but got sick of the rattling plastic fairing so I went naked. This also solved the mirror issue. Banging through the gears is just how the bike is. Aftermarket levers helped a little and gave more to tweak with, plus cable lube frequently. As far as gear indicators go, imo all that matters is knowing when you are in neutral, and you get a happy little green light for that. Having high awareness like what gear you are in is part of surviving riding. All these annoying things are small potatoes considering how affordable and reliable the FZ6 has been for me. SAFE RIDING FAB! Now dry that bike off.

I have my FZ6 from 2010. And had a S1 for one year before that. I did not like the dials on the S1 and the blue color. Love the dials on the S2. Some other little details where also nicer on the S2 and this one has abs. I don't recognize the heavy clutch myself but al always drove on a FZ6 also during the classes. Did my exam on a FZ6 N S1. But I will be trying the MT07 lever arm mod. The gear indicator is one I do miss at times. But not enough that I added one you do find a system when changing up and down to know in what gear you are and sometimes you think there is one more up but it's not. But that's no big deal. I only drive 34k in these 12 years so for me the spark plugs are not a big issue they where done for the first time this year. But if you drive a lot its annoying. One if the things I don't like is the vibrations my S2 has my S1 did not have those like this. I thing it's the full fairing I have around the block because I did not have it on the S1. And a S2 GT I drove with the same fairing also had the vibrations. But Iove the look. Never took them off to test it tho. Might finally do that this year to know it once and for all :P Owh yeah and I did not like the indicators they are to big stock. So switched those to smaller rizoma's and I don't like the fact that only one light was on and the second one was off. There is a mod you can do to have both on without it being on as a high beam using a bulp that has two glow wires I had had on my S1 looked way better. On My S2 I did a xenon projector mod the first year. Love that even more. I still love the bike. I love how it looks and drives. I love the underseat exhaust changed it to a laser quad pipe. Sound it not so good compared to stock on low rpm but the looks are so good! Always loved that look on mv Augusta's. And the way it drives is also great you have a sporty feel but you still dit up straight so you can do long drives. The performance is also there when you Rev it. But you can drive is nice and slow. It's fun to drive changing gears is reworded with performance. I did a few more mods to make it a bit nicer for my self. I have a fabbri double bubble light smoke wind shield it looks a bit more sporty and you can hide better behind it without being in the wind. And I have a Top sellerie seat I bought that for my S1 took it with me to the S2. It's was nice looks great. You can customize it in all kinds of ways. I always enyoyed it. S1 seat was to hard after 2 hours I would really feal it. S2 deluxe was better but this beats them all with ease. Other mid I did is up the front sprocket 1 tooth. It's a bit more relaxed in first gear 5th is now 6th rpm wise. And 6th is more relaxed on the highway lower rpms. And the speedometer is corrected a little bit cause it's off quite bit stock. Only disadvantage of this is when driving with someone on the back trough slow hairpins the it sometimes has a hard time pulling trough first gear. But I drive solo most of the time anyway. Last mod I did this year was new oil and springs for the suspension. The rear spring was gone after 12 years. And I also found the bike diving quite a bit on the front when braking. That's now way better! It also feels more sporty. I installed a hyperpro set. Really like the improvement. Owh and BTW for your girlfriend you can get a little pillow to stick on the rear trunk as a back support I have one of those on mine makes it a bit softer.

Thanks so much for the comment! You’ve made some great improvements. The rattle/vibrations are something that annoys me too but as I usually ride with ear plugs i don’t hear it. @Nelthalin2 жыл бұрын
@@FabMotorbikes the vibration is not something I hear you see it in the mirrors en feel it in the handlebars. But my S1 did not have it that much. Maybe I will invest some time to see if I can find the cause it's only at high rpm like 6500+ where it also starts to make the most torque. Yeah they made some minor changes. But I rally like the result. I'm also going to keep it I don't think I will ever sell it.

They dont give you an adjustable clutch lever for a reason. If you where to adjust it to close to the bars then you will have less action in it and when you pull the clutch fully it will not be enough movement to disengage the clutch plates resulting in you burning up your clutch plates.
@FabMotorbikes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ricky thank you for the comment 😊 always awesome to get different opinions, however I don’t agree. In the case of the Fz6 (and most bikes) the difference between engaged and disengaged on the clutch equates to a very small distance in lever movement. It would also be possible to counter the effects you described by adjusting the clutch cable or in extreme cases the angle of the clutch actuator arm.
@rickybarrett28543 жыл бұрын
You are supposed to set your clutch freeplay to about 2-3 mm. If its to tight then there will be constant pressure on it and you will also burn your clutch out and cause slipping when in gear. If there is to much freeplay then the clutch may not fully disengage when the lever is pulled. So in effect by bringing the lever closer to the bar you are reducing the amount the actuator arm moves which would mimic having to much clutch free play. Read up on clutch free play and you will see.
@FabMotorbikes3 жыл бұрын
Thanks again Ricky. I understand your points, however in the case of the FZ6 the clutch is so on/off I still feel an adjustable clutch will work fine. In my case I have smaller hands so I have had over the recommended 2-3 mm free play in the lever/cable to help my ease of use. Over the years of owning this bike I have never had any clutch problems, never smelled burning plates and never had excessively dirty oil when changing it. An adjustable clutch lever would probably allow me to put the 2-3mm free play back into the clutch free play. But I do take on your points and is definitely good food for thought. 👍
@rickybarrett28543 жыл бұрын
When i say 2-3 mm i mean at the opening near the clurch perch but with the fz6 they say to measure it at the end of the lever and what you are looking is 10-15mm. It seems the fz6 does have quite an on/off clutch. A lot different than my zx12r where the clutch needs to be just right or your in for a world of trouble.
@FabMotorbikes3 жыл бұрын
It definitely could be that I got lucky with the clutch action on the Fz6 being as it is and I’ve been able to get away with it. I’ll remember that if and when I move to another bike. Wouldn’t want to assume and then be in that world of trouble you described! 😆

What do you say about an access to the battery?
@FabMotorbikes3 жыл бұрын
I agree that is bit annoying too. The Fz6 s2 requires removal of 2 plastic panels and then you can pivot the tank upwards. Its not ideal... but I’ve had bikes that were worse. e.g Suzuki sv1000 and van van 125. How do you find it?

@@FabMotorbikes i know it's not changing the battery but it gives you access to it. this is the method I use for pivoting the tank, you don't have to remove the small panels.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYKQdXaCqbiCmZY

@@johnmccallum9429 thanks a lot for this. Which version of the bike do you have? I feel this would be useful for the earlier S1 versions. This appears a little bit more risky (as the tank is no loner secured) and a little bit more work.
@johnmccallum94293 жыл бұрын
@@FabMotorbikes I have the exact same bike as in the video, the tank is secure because you put the bolt back in to hold it, you could also just hand tighten the nut back on to be extra careful, but i 've done it and no need. I find it easier than having to undo all the screws to remove the small fairing panels. cheers.

FZ1's are great bikes. And they pretty much remedy all the issues in this video on the F6

@@FabMotorbikes racing is good for technology development, that engine had to earn it's way on the track, lighter faster stronger, it's a great idea adding mid power cams and getting them on street bikes.
