I got a fazer s2 2007 in blue. Simply does it all. I live in Greece, took it to a road trip to Sicily, Italy fully loaded. No problems whatsoever, very comfy on the highway. I use mine almost everyday, to work and back. Perfect fun machine as well. Sunday twisties are a lot of fun with this one. So versatile. Reliability, OMG. Oil, filter and the bits and that's all you need. It also turns into a beast if you place an aftermarket exhaust. The screaming sound is just awesome. Mivv Suono is my recommendation. I still get compliments from random people about this sexy babe. At this price, you can't go wrong with this one.

I completely agree! Those sounds like some amazing adventures. I can’t wait to get out there again. I’ve not got an after market exhaust but I am coming round to the idea off it. I’ve also been told some of them reduce the heat coming through the seat. Glad to hear you’re enjoying this awesome bike!

@@FabMotorbikes Thanks mate! Indeed, they actually have a difference. The Suono with silencers on is actually very quiet but it generates a bit of heat. Still better than the stock. Now silencers removed surely you won't have an issue with the heat whatsoever. But you have to deal with the noise which is a bit of a pain if you like quiet rides. For me it's just music to my ears. :)

I bought a FZ6 (S2) 2008, partially because of this video, and I LOVE IT!! I have the full black-on-black version with a custom seat, gorgeous! The ride is really great, on high and low speeds, filtering through traffic, casual rides: it is al a breeze. And lastly, the low weight and the handling is perfect and gives great confidence. (Obligatory context: I previously owned a BMWR 1100 RT, which is great and comfortable when driving but quite a handful on lower speeds or when walking)

I just realised that it was your video that I learned a lot from when I was considering a GSX 1250 Bandit. Although they're very different bikes it was between the FZ6 and the Bandit. The economy, versatility and lighter weight of the FZ6 won me over.

Had one for ten years. Super reliable. Did the services myself but never touched the spark plugs in over 50k. There was no need to as it ran sweet as a nut. I now ride a ST1300 Pan European but am seriously considering buying another FZ6 as a second bike. Nice vid 👍🏻. Ride safe 🏍

Thanks so much glad you liked the video. I haven’t changed my spark plugs either the whole time I’ve had it. Partly because it’s runs absolutely fine as it is but also because they are abit of a pain to get to. Easy access means removing the air box... so never seems worth it given how well it runs. Ride safe! I’d love a pan European one day. I hear only great things 👍

Passed my test last year and the fz6 is my first bike. Keep below 8000rpm and it's so easy to ride. Then if your feeling adventurous then it does that as well. Your review was very accurate. The wider back tyre although it costs a bit more than the bikes in the class it feels more planted and handles really well.
@FabMotorbikes
@FabMotorbikes 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks 😊 and you are so right about the back tyre. It allows for way more confidence at sharper lean angles. However I wouldn’t recommend the tyre I have (Michelin pilot rd 2). They’re great for longevity but not amazing for handling because of their shape. The wider tyre also makes to bike look more aggressive than most in the class too.

Nice one, I agree! I’m yet to hear from someone who has owned one from new. You made an amazing choice! How many miles/Kilometres have you put on it?
3 жыл бұрын
@@FabMotorbikes at the moment mine only has around 22.000 km. My life changed so I ride a lot less. Before I bought it I had in 2008 the Yamaha ThunderCat from 2000, made around 50.000km on it, then in 2011 bought a Deauville (not very reliable), also put around 50.000 km, than I bought the Fazer but soon after I got a home next to my job, so I ride a lot less, and with a 2yo daughter me and my wife don't travel together much anymore. But it is a wonderful motorcycle, cheap to maintain, it doesn't give any problems, cheap to run, low insurance, confy to ride alone or with 2up. I don't think I will let her go anytime soon, and it is full stock.
@FabMotorbikes
@FabMotorbikes 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds great. Good to hear that you also experienced the engine from the old fazer, which I believe was from the thunder cat. That was also a very popular bike and heard nothing but good things. Thank you for the advice on the Deauville . I have friend thinking of getting one... I have always thought Hondas were a close second to Yamaha’s in terms of reliability. But I could be wrong about the Deauville.
3 жыл бұрын
@@FabMotorbikes the Deauville had a problem and Honda is aware of it, sometimes when you go accelerating and pull the clutch to switch gears it will simply turn off, and it is a very boring motorcycle sometimes when you need the power isn't there. Also, maintnance costs are higher than the Fazer. Yes, the ThunderCat was an awesome motorcycle too, very reliable and cheap to run like the Fazer is, and it was fast, but it laked ABS, for someone that rides all year round it isn't very good. Btw, my wife said many times she was more confortable when we where riding the Cat or the Fazer, the Deauville only looked more confortable, but it wasn't, I must agree, on higher speeds with a bit of wind you will be fighting a lot, unless you remove the top case and put the windshield down.

Hi men. Love your video. answering your last message i would love to give you my remarks. 1 So Sexy and beautiful. YES I TOTALLY agree. Some years ago i saw a magazine, declaring, that the Kawasaki ER-6n is the most beautiful bike in the world. Right on spot i thought that must be wrong. Yest the ER-6N, is beautiful, weird looking buyt with style, but some would even consider the headlight weird and the rear shock looks weird too being like on the side, etc, but yes it was a good looking bike, but i think Yamah FZ6 is way way cooler, way more beautiful, the attention to detail on almost every part of the bike, even on the S2 version they even got a lot of attention not only to ussability, but looks too changing the box type swing arm, changing the front forks for a better looking forks with way better braking performance with 2 more pistons per calipper, and the rear sub chasis with the removable and more beautiful rear pegs, si just amazing. The fz6 has a beautiful diamond shaped die casting frame with superior rigidity performance because it doesnt contains any welds, (The MT09, FZ6 use the same design for its performance and realiability), its factory screwed in two parts that doesnt contain any weak spots because of welds. This make a incredibily looking chasis, with a superior performance that no other bike on the segments has, you can even see how the competition suffer from this problem with the GSR600, with broken chasis. and the CB600 with heavy tubular chasis. The FZ6 is miles away from the competition, with a category of hey own in looks and chasis performance. The Titanium Rich allow fuel tank, designed with sexy lines, with functionality and realiablity in mind, with good clearance to the handlebar but still having the curves that make a bike beautiful The 17 Yamaha R6 high performance wheels, with high performance FZ1 Brakes (S2 model) The special leather seat that make sliding a thing of the past, with good cover of the pillion little buttom make a confortable ride possible. The totally visible in the day and night LCD wiith fuel gauge, and automatic LCD light Even a little thing to leave the helmet on the bike. This bike is almost perfect men. 2 Considering that the avearage rider of the FZ6 are basically conoseurs, who doesnt crash that often because they really love their bikes and the bike is a no production model, that make acquiring and insuring the bike, a blast. 3 Cheap to buy its a understatement, the bike is basically superior to almost any other 600 tourer on the market, they are not even making them anymore, the closest thing right now is the MT09 with its ugly sounding engine, this bike is just so cheap for what it has to offer. 4 Great for pillion riders. Yes definitly, the seat is confortable, big, and the heat transfer from the exhaust is barely noticeable and even so, i personally think is good to have a little thing warm under you buttocks on cold weather. 5 Top end power. Yes. It's a R6 engine nothing less. you can feel the power at 10k rpm until the 14k rpm redline, it virtualy can overtake anycar, you can go, 100km/h in just first gear... at 3rd you are doing 180km/h. Its just a earth missile, that just lake the Ram air and more aggressive cam shaft design to catch the R6s at top end, but is good that it doesnt, because the R6 is just basically DEAD at low end power. The FZ6 deliver a more useable RPM range, with a little more useable power at low RPM and not so much compromises at top end, its just an amazing bike. 6 Reliability. I have a FZ6 for more than 10 years now. Basically she just ask you to be fueled, oil changed and tire changed if you keep it with good maintenance. The bike is so easy on the chain, the chain is BIG for the bike (530) so it ill endure a long time if you oil it every 300km of every empty fuel tank, the brake pads depends on your riding, and that's it, its a Japanese quality bike, i know FZ6 and R6s with more than 150.000Km, and not even knocking from valve train you can find, they are amazing on realiability. The DiASil designed engine, linnerless, and aluminum forged pistons will make durability not a issue if you use good syintetic oil and drive it at medium to high rpm, Bikes likes to be at high rpm. Maybe the onlyu advise i can make is to use Motorkote as metal treatment, it will make the bearings and cylinder walls strongers, so it will last a lot lot longer. 7 Attention to detail. This is great on the FZ6, you can see details even in the screws, with security screws all over the place, beautiful screws on the Fazer model on the fairing, the lines are just as agressive as a mountain cat, the pain job is high quality, the biggest selling point, the underseat exhaust, are just amazing, on details... this bike have it all, even being engine naked, it looks like they designed t he engine to be beautiful to see it. One of the best things that you mention is the do it yourself maintenance (thing that i do and even more). You can see in the video that the oil filter and oil drain are very nice located on the side, so you can change the oil very easy without taking any fairings. One thing i do with all my vehicles (not just bikes), is change the oil drain plug to one that doesnt require to be screwed, so you can change the oil being HOT, really hot, so its the viscosity is lower so it fluids better. I use the valves from Stahlbus VERY recomended, Thsi way you dont risk your threads at HOT oil change. 8 Rider ergonomics. This is the biggest selling point for Yamaha. They designed the bike to be the bike for those who want a Super SportBike performance, but dont like the riuding position, on the FZ6 you get a high stand position, very confortable for both, the pillion and the rider. 9 Quiet. One of the great things of this bike. IS VERY SILENT! when you see a bike of this passing by, you almost think that its electric. The Exhaust System is very efficient, doesnt cost the bike a lot of top end performance, but the sound... IS JUST MINDBLOWING, of the best 4 Cylinder engine sounds off there. I have a GPR Ghost exhaust and i even see my self taking it out, because the stock exhaust note sound, is just amazing. 10 Verstaile. One of the best versatile bikes. You can use it to commute, you can use it to travel, you can use it to rider on the highway, you can be side to side with bigger supersport bikes, FZ6. DO IT ALL! I congratulate to everyone that has a bike like this, is one of the best bike that exist. I have one for a long time, more than 10 years and i dont regret a single moment on it. In fact... at this day... i doesnt even desire to change it to something else. Not even the FZ1, yes the bigger engine is attractive, but when you take into account, the details, the chasis welds, the exhaust, the word fueling, heavier, etc... You dont regret to be having, 100HP under your pants, its more than enought. Sorry for my english, originally i am from colombia and English is not my primary language. I love it thought.! jeje

Hi Stephen! I’d say it’s a good first ‘bigger’ bike given your age. If you were 21 years old I’d say no. This is because the top end power really can catch you by surprise. I’d always recommend spending a year or so on a 125cc bike to begin with. Height wise... this bike seems to fit everyone, but it’s still worth sitting on one first. Your upper body will be fine but there is a small chance your legs will be a bit cramped. I’d recommend a test drive. In short... as long as you are careful to begin with and give yourself time to get use to it, it’ll be perfect 👌

Why does one need to adjust clutch cable ?I'm no biker so i'm really asking.
@FabMotorbikes
@FabMotorbikes 2 жыл бұрын
Three reasons. Firstly the clutch cable can stretch (slightly) over time adjusting it can count the effects of this. Secondly, as the clutch plates wear down over time the point at which the clutch bites changes slightly, adjust the cable is an easy way to counter this. Thirdly, some people will loosen the cable to make it easier for a smaller hand to reach the lever. Although usually you are better of getter adjustable levers when doing this.

Hi there. I feel that may be a little expensive. To give you an idea. I paid that price for a 2008 perfect condition bike with full service history and 25,000km on the clock.

The deal is good but inspect it. 44k bikes should not look like 60 or 70 ones.

It’s is good quality in terms of the materials. However it doesn’t fit 100% perfectly. And takes some persuasion to get on. And does fit a bit too close to the radiator pipe on the left hand side of the bike. But since it’s been on there... I’ve not had any issues with it. Thank you 🙏 I’m glad you enjoy the videos. 👍👍

Fab Motorbikes Making my motorcylcle license at the moment and not quite sure yet, which bike i'm going to get. I'm really indecisive, but the fazer 600 is definately on my list.

I would recommend it. Just be careful with the top end power, it can catch you off guard. But you will get used to it quickly.

Fab Motorbikes Have been riding a KTM Duke 125 so far. So i do have some years of experience riding a bike. I do like the Duke, so the 390 would be an option as well. My Dad is riding a 1200ccm Yamaha and never had any troubles, so the Fazer is definately worth a try.

Go for it. I had a Suzuki gs500f as my first bigger bike. It worked well for me but Yamaha’s in general are better bikes in my opinion.

Is this bike a2 compliant
@FabMotorbikes
@FabMotorbikes Жыл бұрын
Yes it is if you have a restriction kit installed
@Michael-ed8kp
@Michael-ed8kp Жыл бұрын
I don't believe this bike can be ridden on an A2 license in the UK. Point being A2 is restricted to 35Kw, and you're only allowed to 'restrict' by up to 50% of the bikes power to comply. The FZ6 makes 73 KW, so that would be 36.5Kw. It's worth checking further, as if you did somehow manage, the insurance company would refuse to insure for an A2 license holder?

Fair enough... 😊 I think I was going by a study that I read that Yamaha’s had the least mechanical malfunctions in the first 4 years of their life. I probably should have referenced it here. Would have added to the argument.

I have to disagree on the pipes. Mine has a scorpion slip on and it sounds nice and racy. But reasonably quiet down low.

@@FabMotorbikes The rest of your points are spot on. I truly enjoy the bike. I may get am FZ1 but the gen 1 is carburated and the gen 2 has horrific fuel economy. I recommend the bike to almost everyone. It just works.

I agree. It just works . No bells or whistles. It’s just a bike. But a brilliant one. I’ve thought about upgrading. But last time I had a 1000cc bike it seemed quite excessive for my every day needs.

@@FabMotorbikes That's fair. For my needs a gen 1 FZ1 would work great. Because the motor has more grunt down low and doesn't need to be reved quite as hard. But I really love the FZ6. I may keep it forever.
