Yamaha FZ6R: ASV F3 Lever Swap

We're finally getting rid of these cheap Chinese levers and swapping 'em for the infamous ASV F3 "Unbreakable" levers!

That switch is a in gear safety switch, when the bike is in gear the motor will not turn over, pull the clutch lever and it allows the power to the starter. This stops the bike from running away, especially when it is on the side stand. This & Side stand safety switch are Mandatory for all street bikes from underwriters. 😊😊

A little lube helps longevity, smooth lever pull as well as squeak cancelation. Nice video. I always look forward to the next and appreciate the last.

Kinda funny, the little squeak sound I still have is from the shifter pawl down on the side of the engine. Little WD40 goes a long way!

My chinese ones did the same. Major color fade over the years, and increasing wiggles. Can't go wrong with the ASV's. I like mine too.

If you haven't already, you should publish a list of the things you have done to your FZ6R. I have only just started watching your videos, and I know that you have done a chain/sprocket set, timing advance, fuel and exhaust, and levers. Would love to have a consolidated list of each mod, and even better, a link of where you got them!

It probably allow you to start your bike in gear when the clutch is engaged

That switch on the clutch just lets the bike know when the clutch is pulled. The bike will only start in neutral or if the clutch is pulled for obvious reasons. So if you wanted to know whether or not it actually works, hit the starter when it's in gear, clutch out.

You're right, when you stall the bike accidentally on takeoff you can squeeze the clutch and start it back up without having to put the bike in neutral to start it

@@markgriffis5256 that’s actually pretty valuable info for the Fizzer Fam. We’ve all stalled in traffic and gone into panic mode trying to pull that half click up into neutral 😉

I have got a nice set of evotech's in black on my fazer. I did find that after a short period of time, the clutch got a bit tiring on my forearm and got tendinitis. So I started using 3 or 4 fingers and managed to twist the lever and I needed to replace it. Good riding on them when they was new. It hives you awsome feel and feed back especially with braided lines. Ride safe bruv. From the UK 🇬🇧

@HalfClickUp I did have to replace the brake lever due to anodising was showing bronze instead of black, but, I spoke to a salesman at evotech to buy a replacement and the dude gave me a free one and told me to keep the old one cos its no good to them. Bonus got a spare. I sent him photos by email and he happily replaced it. He sad that shouldn't happen. They even sent me an apology card and some gummie bears 🐻. I got a SWEET deal bruv.

@HalfClickUp yeah. Apparently Evotech equipment ones with a lifetime factory warranty. I only found that out from the dude on the phone. That's give me a thought, my lever adjusters cogs are worn out, I may ring them in the new year. Cheers bruv excellent idea 💡 👍

real purpose is safety. once I had it on tenere mal functioned and when I press and had a gear in it didn't start(but it should) so I had to put neutral to start.

I think the button on clutch side is to ensure the clutch lever is pulled when starting while in gear.

I like the compliance of the cheap MSV levers. There are definitely some out there that are too cheap and have lousy finishes and sharp edges.

Yep there are several newer Chinese options out there that are nicer and a bit pricier than the ones I just replaced, but this ASV deal was about on-par with some of those “higher end” Chinese price points.. couldn’t pass it up.

This was ASV’s Black Friday deal: buy one get one 50% off. That made the set $150, which is the only reason I finally pulled the trigger on these.

shouldnt it be 1-1.5cm space at the clutch lever ? I think it was written in the service manual.

@@yusabayrakoglu3824 not sure.. but if that’s accurate it would be much wider than the thickness of a U.S. nickel, and that would be far too wide of a gap for proper clutch engagement.
