I have a feeling that Yamaha had very little to do with the design and manufacture of this EQ. As I write this, I have a BSR EQ-3000 on my bench, and the similarities tell me that they are made by the same company. The switches are the same, the sliders are the same, the circuit boards are as well. By the way, you cannot open those slider switch assemblies as the front black cover is actually heat welded to the circuit board at the rear where the pins stick through. The best one can do is exactly as you did, simply spray them from the front and try to work it in. What I don't like about spraying sliders is it washes out the factory slider grease and the sliders become gritty after that. I have had limited success using a very narrow brush to paint the grease back in through the slots. They never seem to be as smooth after washing them out with fader lube or another cleaner.
