Dana Bourgeois builds his guitars with bolt on necks. I've never associated bolt-on with cheap guitars...

Please don't play f****ing bluegrass with this guitar! We want to hear chords and see the projection and richness of this instrument, damn it guys!🤬

Sure wish the headstock had a more custom design logo.

Personally, I would have preferred the inlaid tri-tuning fork icon

I like the way it is. Simple yet luxurious.

For anyone else who wishes to sell their guitars on KZbin please remember, no duets...one guitar at a time so we can hear what it sounds like. Save your fancy duets for...forget the duets, we just want to hear the individual guitars.

absolutely

You still would only be hearing what it sounds like when someone else is playing it

Are you seriously that lazy? Go find one of the bazillion other videos about this guitar that will give you that. The duet is just fine.

I'm cringing from 3:55 - 4:02 as the presenter almost hits the other guitar.

Have listened to it five or six presentations and sound samples of these guitars online since their release. I’m sorry to say they just don’t sound that great. They seem to have an enormous projection and volume but seem to lack some compression , note separation or balance that the really great guitars have there’s just too much of everything. I really high grade Sitka top would have been a better choice in my opinion .

Respectfully, I disagree. I own a '94 HD-28 that has been my main guitar since I bought it. It's a great guitar. Previously I owned a '69 Brazilian Rosewood D-35. I've had my FG 9 M for about two weeks and, to my ears, its the best guitar I have played. One of the best qualities of the Yamaha is the dynamic range it has. You can play it softly and it is clear and articulate or really lay into it and the tone doesn't get muddy or wash out. It allows you to vary your style of attack to meet the needs of the music you are playing. We all hear sounds differently and sound samples via phone or computer aren't always the best indicators of how a guitar sounds live. I suggest if you have the opportunity, play one of these models. If you still don't like the sound, fair enough, stick with Sitka top guitars. For this guitar, I'm personally glad they chose the Adirondack top, which sounds wonderful for a brand new guitar that will only improve with playing and age.

I agree. I own a D-28 Modern Deluxe and my FG9 R is simply better. It’s louder, projects better and for whatever reason I don’t have to play as hard to achieve optimal tone and volume.
