Just did the same repair, thanks! My daughter really likes this vintage stereo, and is discovering my old cassettes. Nice to get it working again. It feels good to repair things rather than just dump them.

Hi, did you raise the money needed for your cat, I’ve been offline for a few weeks but sent a donation at the time ! Ryan from the uk

Very good video, it explains everything. You just forgot one thing that would be very important for the repair. Where can I buy a belt? Because the narrow belts were completely ruined, torn. And wide belts are no longer really flexible. (KXW-10, mechanics are the same)
@12voltvids3 ай бұрын
Amazon has assorted kits. Be sure to get 4 or 5mm. Kpcomponents also sells belts but you will need to measure as he only sells by size.

i replaced only the capston belt on my deck, couse the reel belt seemed fine... well, later i was playing a tape and the other belt snapped and my tape got eatened by the pinch rollor. And of corse it was Matti Esko - Rekkamies caseette which has sentimental value to me as i got it from my parents as a child. Fortunately only few seconds of the tape got bad per side

Hpw do they know only to eat the good ones?! I got a cheap Amazon Jensen walkman... Played my test cassette perfectly. Then I went to listen to my $45 cassette, won't name names... Eaten immediately! Ugh.

@@grizzlyaddams3606 the question is who in their right mind would pay 45.00 for a cassette? Of who in their right mind would pay 150 for a vinyl? My son that's who! And he wonders where all his money goes.

@@Jammerk40 well that's one way to do it but if you've got musician ears like I do you can identify the pitch just by hearing it. So listening to music I can tell whether it's sharp or flat.

@@Jammerk40 I played several instruments when I was younger. In school I played reeds (saxophone / clairinet) and I made the transition to the guitar and bass. What you play for a while your ear gets in tune and makes it pretty easy to tell if something's out of tune.

I had a Sony stereo that had a turntable, tuner, double cassette deck and main amp they where separate components that use computer hook up's to each unit and so on! It was a nice starter system that put out 100 watts per channel with eight inch drivers mid range driver and tweeter basically my first home system! Bought it from Montgomery Wards! Did you have those in Canada? Anyway!

I think You hadn't seen unserviceable stuff. This one (just like whole cc70 set) is one of easiest I have ever repaired, but it needs more servicing than we saw here. The easiest metod to put the belt onto motor is temporarily put the belt on the solenoid cords holder, screw in the motor stand to mechanism and use some tool to put the belt from stand to roller. Of course all belts MUST be replaced. I'm buing belts in Poland for about 0,5 --> 2$ so most equipment is worth to be repaired. If you wanna se some hard to service decks try to find f.e. Unitra MDS442 (yes, vintage, polish product).

Double cassette were designed for 2 purporses. Dubbing tapes and relay playback. 3 hours before the music repeats with 2 c90 tapes. Reel to reel was already a dead format.
