I've used Rotella T6 in autos and bikes. Have submitted numerous samples for oil analysis and it always comes back with a positive report on the oil itself. Has also helped me detect issues within the engine that I would have never known about until much later...

I literally just hit 600 miles on my mt 07 (first bike) I wanted to take it to a dealer for my first service but its so expensive where i live ($400 in WA state) so im thinking im gonna do it myself since from what I understand its a glorified oil change and this looks simple enough. Video popped up at the perfect time lol

Here in California I was charged $300 and the tech told me id have to bring it back because they couldn'y get my axle sliders off the rear to adjust the chain. That was when I knew I would never be taking the bike back to get serviced by the dealer. I just did my second oil change and chain service, easy! Get some stands!

And old-timer’s trick if you don’t have an oil filter wrench, use a chisel or screwdriver and jam it into the side of the filter and use that to turn it. Obviously this only works if you don’t have a cartridge style filter. Also make sure your old oil filter gasket came off or you’ll double gasket and it’ll leak

Cool bike, looks nice BUT you won't be very comfortable riding on the street for long rides. if you only ride street you'd better served on the Street Triple which has the same engine but better tuned for the street with more grunt.

I went from a CBR500R to an R6 and I absolutely hate changing the oil on the R6. The CBR had the oil filter in the front by the headers like your MT07, the R6 is on the side behind the shift linkage and requires you to take plastics off.
@CycleCruza5 ай бұрын
I know how you feel. Yeah the CBR wasn't bad but I still had to remove those freaking fairings to work on it. I really appreciate the naked bikes. R6 is a cool bike tho, amazing track bike still to this day.

@CycleCruza I always wanted one, and then they changed the look in 2017 and made me want one more and then they discontinued them, so it was now or never I felt like, now their value has gone up. I'm probably going to sell it and get an r9 when they finally announce it, I'm almost 40, I love my bike but my back doesn't.

Hey Cyclecruza, how would you say the vibrations are from the footpegs/handlebars on the 701 and yz450fp, could you compare it to a Drz400s? Or your mt07?
@CycleCruza5 ай бұрын
I have yet to ride a DRZ-400. There is very little vibration at the pegs on my 690 SMC R, it actually has rubber inserts in the pegs. My YZ450FX doesn't really have a lot of vibrations at the pegs or bars, no issue for me.

Bike says 2300 cubic centimeters at 8:32, but 2.75 quarts equals 2602 cubic centimeters. I guess the difference in oil amount is okay?
@BobTheHatKing3 ай бұрын
300 cc isn’t much difference of oil, but idk if it’s significant enough. I work on cars and those you can be a quart low and be fine. That said, motorcycle engines are smaller and use less oil, so being 1 qt low is a lot. 300 cc, idk
@mikeskidmore67545 ай бұрын
I paid $20.00 for Castrol 10W-40 5 quarts motor oil and $4.50 for Frame Filters for my FZ-07 . Gasoline savings oil can be too slipper for wet clutches. "Gasoline savings oil" K&N Oil Filters cost 3 times what they are worth . I tighten oil filters about as tight as I can get them with my fingers.. with oil added to the rubber gasket.. I put a mark on my 5 quart container.. I think it takes 2.75 quarts or 3.75 quarts.. Now I Keep filling the marked container with oil from other 5 quart containers. Starting the bike up and letting it idle for a bit is a bad idea. Start the bike up and take it for a hard ride then change the oil .. Hot oil suspends the contaminants and metal shavings ect.

Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 is Jaso MA/MA2 rated, actually has a small picture of a motorcycle on the front of the label. I use Shell Rotella T4 15W-40 in my 2018 YZ450FX supermoto every 8-10 hours since day 1 and my bike runs better now than it did new. I've been using Rotella oils since 2012 with no issues. However, all that matters is use the oil you like. When you change oil every 8-10 hours it can get expensive with more expensive oils that are really a waste of money. When it comes to tightening anything on a motorcycle or car you want to tighten it to the manufacturer's specification in the service manual, especially when it comes to an oil filter and oil drain bolt. If that oil filter rattles loose because it is tightened right and leaks, that could set your bike and you up for a f'kd up day.
@mikeskidmore67545 ай бұрын
@@CycleCruza Looks like your shell T-6 is fully synthetic. $70.00 for 3 gallons. I used to pay $4.00 per gallon for motor oil . and 54 cents per gallon for Deisel fuel .

@@CycleCruza Walmart oil prices are all over the place. My power sports dealer raised the price from $8.00 to $12.00 for my Buell. The same Fram Filter also fits the Kawasaki Mule . Ah those were the days owning a naked bike and not having to remove fairings. That said I'd still choose my R6 over the MT07. Which is why I've not gone back to the MT07.
@CycleCruza5 ай бұрын
Eh the R6 is a great track bike, that bike helped my cousin win races and become a pro racer. However, the days for me riding a supersport or s superbike on the street were over when I first started riding naked bikes, way more comfortable and more grunt. There are so many great naked bikes these days it is tough to go back to riding track bikes on the street. They are beautiful tho! Much prettier than naked bikes but when you throw a leg over the bike the looks don't matter anymore. Stay safe!
@Frank_Torre5 ай бұрын
@@CycleCruza True, but the look back factor always gets me with sportbikes or supersports. No matter where I go soon as I get off and 5 feet away I look back and stare at my R6. Sportbikes just have that effect. Hell even the new CFMoto 675SR R Triple has that effect. It legit looks like the bike Triumph should've released as the new Daytona.

This was actually the very first oil change on this MT-07, the dealership I bought it new from tightened the drain bolt way too tight and not to spec. Oil change is so easy to do that is is a sin to not do it yourself. My friend's car got messed up from going to a 10 min oil change place.
