Basically a go cart track not sure its the best venue certainly not for overall comparison ....and where is the MTR09 on the list? Or the SP version of MT10 and 09?

Agreed-but electronic suspension compared to properly setup standard suspension isn’t going to be faster on track.

A supermoto would leave both of these bikes behind on that tight track, far higher average corner speed. XSR900 is quicker there, no surprise with about 40 pounds less weight and meaty mid-range power.

why is the mt09 sp much slower then considering its the same bike with better suspension?

@@mig1059 XSR900 runs a longer swingarm and has somewhat different geometry than the MT-09SP counterpart. There's more to track lap speeds than simply saying "better" suspension or something tangible. Recall that Zach and Ari took a 2005 GSX-R1000 with freshened up suspension against a modern day V4 Panigale around a track and the Suzuki won the lap times, again and again. Nothing is exactly what people think it is.

I’ve never been with another skilled rider, but I’ve been on track with a 3-4 Street Triple’s and they couldn’t hang w/ the Ten.

one thing i think it has a half gallon more fuel than the Triumph it is disconcerting it is that much heavier though Though it is probably more important where it is carrying the added weight and why Triumph and older gen was lighter? If Yamaha made the frame stiffer for the R1 for instance that could play into it. I think there are shady tricks manufacturers use at times to get lower weights like for example using tires with hardly any substance (think skimpy belting and less rubber) but idk in this case Maybe Triumph legitmately opted for some premium materials here and there like titanium and magnesium

Speed Triple for me, as I really hate the sound of the CP-4 with its uneven firing order. It's heavier too. I'd much rather have the MT-09 triple than the CP-4. Nothing sounds better than a triple!

@claystudtmanThe CP-4 kind of reminds me of the sound of V4 eninges in bikes, which I never liked. With that said, there is nothing wrong with liking that sound, it's just not for me. @claystudtman Yeah, for sure on those ultra-flat torque curves that those triples so easily tend to produce. I've ridden both the Trident 660 and the new Street Triple 765 RS now and they both seem to exemplify that effect of having a very broad power band. I love that!!! And that triple sound is just dreamy to my ears. Hey, by the way, which would you recommend getting: the 1200 RS Speed Triple or the 765 RS Street Triple? I've heard that there has been some mechanical/electronic issues with some of the 1200 Speed Triples but omg, that power & torque is insane. 👍👍

@claystudtman I've ridden one (the 765 RS) but I have sat on both and they feel very very similar to each other. The 1200 RR is really bad but the 1200 RS is pretty comfortable. Even the 765 Moto 2 is not that bad but again, the 765 RS is more comfortable.

@claystudtman If they (the dealerships) would stop puting the 1200 on sale (like $3700 off standard pricing), then the 765 would be a no-brainer for me. They really have to make it a struggle for me. Lol ...That 765 RS runs super silky smooth! I can't even believe how smooth it is. People say something similar about the newer 1200 but I've heard one run before and though it's smooth, it's not even a contest when it comes to the 765.

I saw both bikes in person 2023 Triumph 1200 speed triple RS and 2023 Yamaha mt10 the Triumph street triple 12 rs seems so much more high quality I didn't test drive either bike the mt10 look so cheesy and cheap I can't say if it is or not I'm no expert but I'm just saying what I observed. The dealer wants 3000 more out the door price for the Triumph. 18000 out the door price is that a good deal for the Triumph.
