Yamaha MT10 review

Looking at the MT-10 head on, I find myself half expecting it to transform, especially with that bumblebee front end. However don't let its looks be its undoing... its brutal power far outweighs those aesthetic looks...
Once you chuck a leg over, that is quickly forgotten!

I've had my "standard" MT10 for a little over two years. The most fun you can have. I'm 69 years old and i love this wild bike to pieces. Don't be fooled by the easy mode; it's all about the throttle. You can still pull a wheelie in 5th gear in easy mode! As for drinking fuel, it does but what do you by a bike like this for? Not economy. It will go over 200kms on a tank and that is not being a slow blow, just not ringing it's neck. Good test boys love your style and mega envious of your Queensland roads. WA roads out of town are agricultural!

Bought my black and blue 2018 MT10 six months ago in SanDiego and love it. I bought and installed the Yamaha Yoshimura special MT10 slip on and a wind screen both were great improvements. I'm now sending off the brain to have it flashed. Can't wait to ride it and see what difference it makes in HP.

The sound while riding it is amazing! Demod one today and had so much fun with the torque. The speedo cluster felt outdated even tho it showed everything you needed to see, but that was about it. Torque torque torque

Picked up my MT10 today second hand with low mielage, personally I love the looks of it, more so in the flesh, but I appreciate that is purely subjective and individual ^^. Today I had it in mode 3 (soft) with maximum traction control as I was riding home in heavy rain, it was drying out and i opened the throttle properly and she still picked the front wheel up. Proper impressive, but remarkably civilized if you want it to be. (edit) I can't help but think that there's a whiff of RD 350 LC in there somewhere, can't think why ^^.

I like this bike..I had the 2015 Z1000 kawi..But after getting back on supersports,I sold my z and bought a Gsxr 750..Just cant go back to a naked bike after riding the faster full sport bikes..But yeah..I actually like this Yammy..

Amazing review boys, subbed. I've done 10000kms so far on my 2017 MT-09, I absolutely love the bike and MT-10 will definitely be my next, probably next year. I may actually keep them both :DD Looks are subjective, but I absolutely love it, except for the ungly tail light - I'd like to see something similar to MT-09.

I rode this bike yesterday at a Demo Day. Instantly fell in love. Not to mention, I was never a fan of Yamaha until now. Been a Honda guy all my life. Only knock I give the MT10 is that boring instrument cluster. They should have added some sort of color. But that's not going to stop me from getting one soon...

Taste is a lost attribute among too many reviewers. This bike looks incredible. I love the look. Getting tired hearing the tasteless criticizing the look. The range of this bike makes it non contender for me, but other than that, fantastic, beautiful bike.

I been warming up to her Butter-Face, a week ago or so I had an up close and hard look at it and I think I could live with it on a daily basis. Except for the horrible fuel economy numbers. That has to get better. Don't like the "Ripe Guacamole color wheels", Silver body/Blue wheels or Black/Blue or All Black is more my tune.

I'm getting 35.4 mpg from mine no matter how I ride! Back a few years my 2001 RSV1000R Mille could empty its tank in 85 miles when ridden hard. It may be thirsty but so what! The bike is awesome in every way.

I think either one you won't be disappointed. However you will get less kms out of a tank on the MT10 compared to the MT09 due to the fact that it is a bigger engine, with that being said the 10's power is fare more impressive than that of the 09 (personal opinion) all I can say is test ride them both and see which one inspires you to be a more confident rider.

cool bike but no brembo, no øhlins. so the bang for the buck is less then you would get from (for example) Monster. there you get at least top shelf brakes and proper damping.

Nixxion _ watched a super niked brake test recently,the mt10 had the least braking distance so wouldnt knock it for the brakes.Also has the best electronics by far

yes i ofc the brake distance., thats what i was thinking about. not best weight/stiffness ratio and the lightness of the whole brake system from brembo. (there is a reason that other brands put øhlins and brembos on their exclusive bikes. it is the best end of discusion!) i am confident when i ride a bike whit brembos becouse when those badboys bites i know what they are good for! and i was also talking about the dampers aswell, and all you answer is that it has short braking distance?. you didnt say what bikes that where in that "test" you mentioned. but anyway let`s compare mt10 SP (which is the badboy in the streetfighter divison from yamaha. so let`s say we compare the mt10 SP whit ducati Monster 1200r both are the same naked class whit same power (150-160hp +-). the price range is very similar etc. it has Øhlins rear monoshock and fully adjustable front shocks from øhlins. and it got brembos. and the Electronics on the monster is far better then the mt10! Ducati have been on top the past 10 yrs whit the best electronics miles ahead (check Desmosedici 2007 and the whole lineup for the panigale) it`s a trackbike right out of the store. the mt10 SP is heavy and bulky and not a track bike even if it has øhlins rear shocks it doesnt matter. you get more bang for the buck whit the 1200R.

@@richardcoleman1909 I have a zx6r now, the handle bars are buzzy as fuck. people have said maybe its my wheel or forks, but I tell them; all that buzzyness comes straight from the engine, and thru to the handle bars into your hands lol... so sick and tired of buzzy ass bikes, not to mention the riding position. my next bike: Yamaha fj9, or a Kawasaki versys 1000

Ikki Tenryou Scotty P and I are both 5 foot 8, we didn't have too much of an issue getting our feet to the ground however we could only just touch with the balls of our feet. You shouldn't have too much of an issue with this bike considering our other co-host Russell Page is the exact same height as yourself and he found the positioning quite comfortable but found the standard seat to be a little firm. I'd recommend a comfort seat for the MT10 plus you'll gain a little more seat height.
