I went from a 96 zx-11 to a 06 zx-14 and recently bought a new zx-14, a Harley Roadglide and a Kawasaki H2. But when I was younger I ALWAYS loved riding my friends 03 zx-9r. Light as hell compared to the zx-11 and zx-14. The older I've gotten i just cruise on my Harley but every now and then I get the "need for speed" 😂🤷🏾♂️

I had an opportunity to ride one of these yesterday. What a bike! Really hard to explain without getting on it, it just has so much.

No replacement for displacement. Had GSX1400, it's a loco on steroids. Thinking about buyin' one again, to second my current Z900 in the garage, and use it as a "power/distance-"sporty_ish"-cruiser". MY 2005-2006 for less than 1/2 of the price of "modern retro" such as Speed Twin, Z900RS etc., with around 30-40k on speedo (which is no hassle for that engine). But would tune it up - replace springs, shocks, exhaust system, brakes (completely), and do a little retro bodywork to make it more comfortable on long highway trips (something like the first 1984 Kawa Ninja, but with circular headlight ;-))

I bought an 08 model and just love it.. amazing power delivery and comfort for all day riding. Seems perfect and how old school motorcycles are a great choice. I would like a few minor changes, like slightly wider handlebars, smaller mirrors and indicators.. sharpen up the front end..

I had my zrx1100 ELR from 99 til this year when I traded for the new z900rs cafe and its an incredible bike, it just lacks the cool of that lime green and stripes. Had they released a zrx with the technology of the z900rs it would have been incredible

I have been riding for 50+ years and now ride a 2017 KTM 1090R on fast pavement rides to easy off-road trails, and a 2023 KTM 350 EXC-F for technical and more difficult trails. Like the Van Halen song, having two dedicated bikes gives me the Best of Both Worlds. I would never buy the new KTM 790/890/1290 bikes because of all the complicated electronics; t prefer to ride a motorcycle, not allow a computer to ride it for me. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Didn't sound or look like it ran like brand new when you started it up. It actually sounded quite boggy and unresponsive when you was blipping it. Carbs definitely need tuning better

Great bike, mine is a blue and white K2. We go away on ours every year, tank bag, top box, two panniers, me and the wife and it's still effortless. No intention of swapping it

@0:26 Correction: Both ZX-9Rs and ZX-6Rs of that era have a fuel pump, not gravity fed. Otherwise, I do miss my 2001 ZX-6R.

They simply don't make bikes like this anymore. For my money the King of Standard Japanese Motorcycles. This was the tipping point between carburetors and fuel injection and the carbs on this bike are so awesome. The cornering on this bike is impressive and you can move so smoothly at lower revs. Handles nearly as good as my CBR in a bend.

Hey Mate, I just bought the Suzuki Gsx 1400 model 2008, I live in New Zealand, do you know what type of petrol to use on this bike? 91 or 95? Thanks a Lot, awesome video....

The vfr400, cbr400rr, cbr250rr, are all so special to me. Small displacement and high rpm come together to give you something that sounds incredible, but as long as it's respected and not underestimated it's something manageable for the road. I'm hoping to be able to get an nc29 in the not so distant future.

I owned the original 1970 Kawasaki KZ1000A Eddie Lawson model here is the USA. I called that motorcycle the WIDOW MAKER!!! It was 90 plus HP stock back then...Now I own a 2005 ZRX 1200R i bought new in 2005, with a full Akrapovic titamiun exhaust, 4 degree ignition advancer, custom jetting, K&N filter, 3 teeth up in the rear sprocket, and a Borg & Warner race clutch. It does 10.38 seconds in the quarter mile without any wheelie bars and no stretched swing arm. On the dyno it's putting out 138 Horsepower to the rear tire....

Cool. I've had the 2002 6R (my first bike), 12R, 14R, tested a 2004 ZX10R a few times, the Z1000 which used this 9R motor - and sounded amazing - but i've never had a ZX9R and always wanted to see what they're about! Paint job always put me off tbh.
