I currently own an FZ-07 and an FZ-09, 2015 and 2017 respectively. I agree with everything you've said here, with only one small nitpick! Your review, as unbiased and accurate as it is, covers the (now) previous generations of both bikes. The FZ-07 got quite a few aesthetic upgrades for 2018, as well as retuned suspension. That supposedly fixes two of the main gripes people had with that bike. The FZ-09 was redesigned for 2017 as well, also getting a facelift. Having ridden both the 2014 generation and 2017 generation, I can say that the throttle mapping (and thus behavior of the bike) is like night and day... until you get to A mode at least. There's also ABS and traction control as well. Suffice to say, the FZ-09 finally feels a bit more refined and more like a proper middle ground between the FZ-07 and FZ-10. Bottom line: Your review accurately reflects the previous generations of both bikes and is very fair and unbiased. Both of the 'cheaper' bikes are now much better than their previous iterations. The FZ-10 is still the same, but it's a perfect example of something that's not broken and doesn't need fixing. P.S. I like it when you do content like this. MOAR.

Bro, rider to rider question, I currently own a 2011 CBR 600 RR as my daily city commute bike, which makes my ride to work really fun and fast but it i starting to take a toll on my wrists and my lower back, I completely love the looks and the bike itself but there is not any kind of real track anywhere around and im debating myself between the FZ07 (which i`ve tried but felt it has no power at all) or the fz09 (haven`t tried it it) do you think it would be a good change of vibes? I can pretty much buy the FZ 09 on the price I could sell my CBR, Thanks!
@5tr4nge756 жыл бұрын
FZ09 seems like a MUCH more powerful and aggressive supermoto, a pure hooligan bike. One that will cost you your license if you're not super careful. I want one.
@BmxDieseldude6 жыл бұрын
Get one. They're intoxicating. I've been on faster sport bikes, but none that feel like they want to go all the damn time. Doesn't matter if your at 3k or 7k rpm It just wants to take of.
@zach74596 жыл бұрын
Except it's nothing like a supermoto....
@BmxDieseldude6 жыл бұрын
SlightLeftCurve ! I mean I wouldn't go jumping it or taking it into the dirt but most supermoto riders are just hooligans in the city. That said the seating position is similar, it doesn't like using the front tire, and at slow speeds it feels more like a bicycle. Those are all very motard esque qualities. It's why I bought one. Because it felt like a supermoto, but with way more power and I don't feel like I'm abusing it taking it one the freeway for longer distances.

The FZ-09 is perfect in my opinion. I was behind a 2018 R1, and it was only marginally faster than my bike. It's very flickable, and with a custom flash, the throttle is smooth like butter.

I rode the MT09 and MT07 back to back recently trying to decide between the two. I rode the MT07 first and it was fine. Seemed like a great bike around town. Decent power but not too great on the highway. The first minute I got on the MT09 I liked it better though. The engine was more what I was used to in my past liter bikes and the bike felt way better on the highway while still feeling nimble in town. Never considered the MT10 because it is too costly and looks like something a Teenager would dream up if Yamaha put them in charge of their design team.

I don't really understand why people always talk about the crossplane crank in the FZ10. All 3 of these bikes have crossplane cranks.

@@twistn-grips lol ok bud. Almost all American v8's use crossplane cranks, all 3 of these bikes use crossplane cranks, fuck dude, even my Africa Twin uses a crossplane crank. Literally all it is is just a crank that has a 90 degree angle after each throw. It's nowhere near as special as you make it out to be. There are advantages and disadvantages of both cross plane and flat plane cranks. There's no serious performance advantage gained from either or, it literally just changes how the power is delivered.

Yamaha also offers a reflash for older FZ09's too, which takes care of a lot his complaints.

@@protectork9831 sort of. You won't get traction control of course. But you will get updated fuel maps and throttle control. Along with quick shift if you install the hardware. Basically everything minus TC.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. After owning a 2016 FZ09 for 3 years I have still not gotten use to its twitchy throttle. Seriously considering trading for an FZ07 for the fun factor

You can't deny that the MT/FZ 07 sounds the best out of the 3 with an exhaust

True, it´s a great sounding 2 cyl. I like the 09 and 10 too though, they are all nice sounding :D

Douglas Wilander The main reasons I love mine so much is basically 2 things -Light weight -And that exhaust note Even after owning my 2016 MT07 for the last year in a small town, I STILL get weird looks from other people and fellow riders when they hear it

that's because it's the only one with a full aftermarket system :D
