Yamaha's sound is so cold (as always?) and too artificial for me. No need to watch the answer at the end of the video :) There is also a huge difference in terms of velocity between these 2 pianos. Piano 2, definitely

I preferred piano 2, which seemed to have a more intimate and more dynamic sound, with variations from soft and warm to more harder more percussive tones. I thought it was the Yamaha, but I was wong. Clearly the Yamaha piano has been swamped with more effects, to mask its inferior sample quality - something Yamaha keyboards are well known for, superb sounding patches with excellently programmed effects - production ready. But in this case the Roland piano clearly is the superior one, which can more easily accompany a wider variety of genres., and while the Yamaha sounds better on headphones, because of the production ready sound, in a live environment via speakers, in a room, especially in a larger room, I would prefer the Roland sound, because the room is already adding reverberation. I was a bit surprised by this demo, cos I always thought that the ROland FP10 was the more strident piano sound. I was wrong, I must go and listen again, to other demos and comparisons

I don't actually play piano but I was looking at these models briefly yesterday and was able to pick the Roland out as my favourite and 2nd piano. Tried to ignore the warmer sound to a degree in case there was a change in EQ for whatever reason. And actually focussed on the resonance, which I can only describe as sounding more true and perhaps lingering more naturally. I do play other instruments which maybe helped. Good comparison 👍

Roland sounds crisp, dynamic, but sounds metallic. So going with Yamaha for naturality, warmth.

Havent watched the answer yet, but i have watched 2 reviews before that, and roland sounds warmer than the yamaha one, but the yamaha one seems "clearer" I think piano 1 is yamaha And 2 is roland fp-10 Now i watch the answer

For elder ears the sound from piano 1 sound nice because of more treble. But I still have a more "cosy feeling" when I hear piano 2. So I like them both.💋 Thanks

There is some reverb on the Yamaha, it is audible on all pieces, and no reverb on the Roland. In my opinion the test must be repeated without any effect.

you intentionally added more echo or reverb in the Yamaha which makes it sound worse. I have that piano and it doesn't sound like that. it actually sounds like piano 2 (roland)

Comparing moonlight sonata, there's more static noise in piano2, can I guess also high volume compared to piano1? that just doesn't seem balanced in the test

I owned the FP10 as my first and I can tell right away its not the 1st one. The main issue I had was that the FP10's key action is a little too stiff for articulating rapid chord passages and does not have the "bounce" quality for executing single pitched tremolos. It did not simulate the action of a real piano as advertised, though it did have a lighter touch at the higher notes albeit still too stiff. It also lacks the tone modulation, where you can only tune its sharpness and reverb that much. All that said, its still a good keyboard for its superb sound quality, ivory keys etc... though I would recommend any beginner to go with the P45 as it is more all-rounded and has keys that actually emulates a real piano (which is also easier than the FP-10)

Cohincidence. I bought the FP-10 and I ended up switching It for the P-45. I hope more people read your technical comment and don't do the same mistake I did. The keys are unrealisticly stiffy and IMO heavier than the acoustic pianos I remember playing. It's like Roland tried to pose the advertisement on heavyness only (ps. The FP-10 is a good piano but It doesn't feel as close to a real piano in touch as the Yamaha P45 does).

@@yolanda6283 The thing about the P-45 is that you can't go wrong with this Yamaha model. I found FP-10 to be too stiff (while some people loved It because they want to put their fingers to the test on really heavy keys. Er, ok), and I found the Casio CDP 150 to not even try to emulate a real piano but to have a good light design and fancy functions. Of these 3 models, the Yamaha P45 is simply all well rounded. It doesn't try to be anything but a good real piano. Beautiful to the ears and such pleasing to play :)

yup mate, I kind of prefer FP 10 rather than B2 for sound. But in my country FP 10 more pricey than B2.

Stay away from Korg B2. The action feels like pressing a sponge, almost like a non hammer action keyboard. Just tried it out in our shop. If anything from Korg and relatively cheap, go for D1 / D3 or respected DP sets like Korg LP380U. Great piano.

I personally prefer the Roland FP10. The key action is pretty much top of its class in its price range. It also offers a lot more features than the Yamaha like bluetooth midi and a mobile app where you can access up to ~30 different sounds.

@@backbone93 Owned Yamaha P45 for couple of years and loved it. Recently switched to FP10 because of its Bluetooth. It sounds and feels different. I like Roland key action but honestly I like Yamaha sound much better both with speaker and headset. It's best to play and hear them in person before making decision.

Nice on guessing the correct pianos :) and yea i've been using the FP10 as a midi controller for VSTs such as Pianoteq and Noire from Native Instruments lately

@@TuhinTulsyan Yep I'm running the vsts on a laptop, however I'm using the built in sound card which isn't ideal. I also play with headphones. I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter so I haven't looked into any of its music. Could be interesting though!
