Yamaha Phazer Reverse Issues

#yamaha #snowmobile #yamaharevsyourheart Yamaha Phazer reverse issues. The important points are as follows: Have your drive belt as loose as possible to not compromise engagement speed. Have your chain tension finger tight and loosened 1/2 turn. Use light weight chain case lube such as Polaris SCL. Reverse will not work well till engine and chain case are warm and engine is at idle. It will not shift if engine is in warmup at high idle.

Did you cut that hole in the tunnel or is there a plate you remove ? To avoid a warm seat?

I did not cut or remove anything. The sled is stock. Many people have enclosed their under seat areas to avoid icing issues. Yamaha also made a kit for it at 1 point.

Hey, I recently tried starting my phaser and it was very cold and it had probably sat for about a week, it had a tough time turning but after about 10 mins of trying to start i was fed up and took the key out and it was still cranking without the key or the kill switch on. I was wondering what this problem might be? Could it be electrical issues or something to do with the key switch. Whenever I attach the battery it instantly starts to crank.

I would guess it is your starter solenoid/relay. It is stuck in the closed position and not releasing when the key is off due to the inside of it being stuck. It needs replaced. Something has probably melted inside due to the high heat of a long hard start. If your Phazer is a 2007 you probably need to purchase and install the Yamaha oem hard start kit which includes a new ecu and decompression springs. Make sure you also have a good strong battery. I have recently been doing some experimenting with ether to help start cold Phazers using a small squirt into the air intakes with good success. I cannot speak for the long term effects of ether on the rubber components. Also check out my other Phazer videos.
