I have owned yamaha DSP A592 Five channels since 1998 when it was yamaha flaship then, its an old workhorse which has never disappointed me. I have used big speakers on it and its only complain was rise in temperature of the amp. Now I think its time to send it on retirement with benefits and get one that is equally strong for a rough ride

Great review. I prefer the stripped down, fully balanced version in my A-S2200, nonetheless knew the 2000A would spec well.

Very Happy owner of the R-N803D for past 5 years. Immensly reliable and takes music to a comfortable level for me. This amp was a bargain as I got it before the new range arrrived. Should I upgrade? ......This amp is on another level compared to mine. Welll done Yamaha. After a lot of different brands we can really enjoy music without issues.

I had the R-N803 before I got the 2000A. I was happy with it until the speaker relays became intermittent. I ended up getting the service manual and the relays and I replaced them. Then I sold it when I got the 2000A. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was amazed at how much better the 2000A sounds. It's very much surpassed my expectations. I can't listen to it enough.

i am really looking forward to the Arendal speaker 1528 ohm measurement, that should tell us something about the amp that failed while playing them. and maybe the four 8" woofers has a low impedance dip with that port, maybe the other models are wired up differently, and one of the models are sealed enclosure also. hope my amp can handle some 1528 speakers, because i just ordered some and i will soon find out i guess. specs on my old Arendal sound speakers is the same ohm and sensitivity db ans the new one so it should work.

Love audioholics. I do have a question again. I own a Marantz Cinema 30 with svs ultra bookshelf speakers and ultra surrounds and the svs prime elevation 7.1.4, and I was wondering if an external amplifier would give me more dynamic headroom ect. Evan though the cinema 30 has a pretty good amplifier section, thanks

When is Yamaha going to release a flagship pre-amplifier to compete with the Marantz AV10 and Anthem AVM90? Audioholics wrote an article on the CX-A5200 back on January 20, 2020. That's half a decade ago! C'mon Yamaha show some pride. You used to put out flagships to go head to head with Marantz every three years. Are your engineers and executives really going to let Marantz dance on your dead grave?

There is really no native 2.1 content so just switch your source device to stereo PCM or downmix.

@kristiantizzard779629 күн бұрын
@@DigitalDonAVthe audiophile world is overwhelmingly a cesspit of misinformation. You can count the number of communities that don't propagate pure woo woo on one hand. Audioholics and ASR are 2 of them. If someone has an overly simplistic view of the value of a particular measurement you at least have a starting point for an objective discussion, which is rarely the case if someone is basing what they know on the output of the usual grifters on KZbin or in the equally appalling hifi print forums and print media. Ultimately even having comments about SINAD is something to celebrate.
@EB1000Ай бұрын
90dB of SINAD in 2025 is nothing to be proud of! This integrated class AB amp with a single sub out and analoge tone controls is very outdated. There are much better offers by competitors like NAD. iT'S TIME FOR Yamaha to retire their AV and HIFI division.
@ZhiloreznikАй бұрын
Sinad is not everything. Lots of affordable Chinese amps have great Sinad but lack power, and go into protection at low ohms. My Marantz has “bad sinad” but when the woofer start moving you can really hear the difference in bass performance.
@AudioholicsАй бұрын
Spoken by someone that listens to gear by looking at a single point of data and no real world experience. I have a class D integrated amp in the same system with better SINAD that doesn't drive the Arendal 1528 Bookshelf 8 speakers nearly as good as the Yamaha. The R-N2000A sounds phenomenal and among the best sounding amps I've tested in my guest room system.

Come on pal! Seriously! I do like the NAD stuff as well. But this Yammy is a beuty! And performs amazing!
@kristiantizzard7796Ай бұрын
@@EB1000 SINAD is a useful rule of thumb but at 90db it isn't necessarily consequential if noise is low. I doubt in a blind a/b one could distinguish an amp with state of the art SINAD and this one where all other things were equal, at least not in real listening conditions. I have a qudelix 5k dac amp which has a miserable 88db SINAD and there is no audible difference between that and one with a SINAD of 123db.
