Simple answer, buy both. My 2019 Ninja ZX10R sits in the garage, looks amazing and when I wanna have some curvy fun I ride. When I wanna relax and cruise I ride the MT-10. Choices are the spice of life.......

I'll be 53 next month, have probably owned close to 40 sportbikes (7 R1's) and plan on buying more before I croak or just can't physically ride one anymore. I get such a high just busting a quick 1st gear power wheelie to the next light or a sweet lean getting on the on ramp or backing it in coming downhill towards a stopsign. I am so entertained pretending to be Rossi that I don't feel the kink in my neck or my achy wrists until the ride is over. It's the same as dating a stripper/supermodel. Yeah she yells at the waiter and is crazy as a shit house rat but damn is she fun to ride!

As an enthusiast I might choose r1 but yeah your words holds strong buddy it's seating position is quite aggressive maybe good for leaning on tracks and doing faser laps but on street what really matters is how comfortable u can be from that aspect u got others too like streetfighter,mt10,superduke,etc. But still the way this bike looks man no other is that near

I think your spot on there, ive owned a 20/21 R1 for 3 months now, the performance, handling, looks and soundtrack is amazing!! Heavier bar end weights are a must!!! I was having problems with hands going to sleep added r&g barends and grip puppies....problem solved, i also fitted an arrow indy decat, next is an ecu flash 👍

If you haven’t done the whole “super bike” thing then you have to experience owning one, for sure. Maybe you will think back to this video after a few years of ownership of something like an R1. They are a fantastic piece of engineering 👌🏻🏍

Iv had four r1 s two r1ms and norm r1 2020 now got r1 60th anniversary one red white just got other month I’m 49’this year I’m 5ft 7 9 stone in weight and fits me just fine love it never get bored of it

Sorry late to the party, good review sir but the R1 is really a track bike that can be ridden on the street. I'm 46 and own a 2020 and I love it! I have no back issues( but I also take care of myself physically) but it is rough on the wrists( its a sport bike!). One thing I completely disagree with and take offense is the part where you said people buy these bikes for attention? I've been riding for over 25 years and have had friends and knew people who bought sports to get girls and etc but there are people like myself who are enthusiast and love motorcycles and motorcycle racing it's our passion and I honestly I careless of what people think of me? Shit they probably say I'm too"old" to be riding sport bikes lol. Anyway my two cents, and don't forget it's a sport bike. It's like driving a Ferrari and complaining it's uncomfortable (it's supposed to be uncomfortable 🙃)

I totally agree , I had the r1 after I did a master class at Silverstone. It was such a fantastic track bike. For the road it was very harsh. 80 miles to a tank . Both hands went numb after 30 mins . But the sound and looks it the best . 👌🏼 now I got the bmw s1000rr , it's the best of both worlds .

I have a tuono factory 2018 and a 09 r1 , the tuono is a better everyday bike but the Big Bang will always put a smile on ur face the noise and grunt are addictive as is the tuono variety is the spice of life 👌👌👌👌👌

at 57 my 2002 R1 will prob be my last, she's made it this far without rider aids, and soon to be a classic, mines is just as clean as the one on display here #LoveYamaha Subscribed.

Sorry bud in but the 2002 R1 is a classic❤ and I envy you still riding sport at that age, im 46 and still riding sport as well( I own a 2020 R1). I owned 2003 R1 and it was a superb bike. Cheers

I agree, I just p/x my 2017 zx10r for a new tmax 560. Same.reasoms, 200bhp is way too much for any road, as only using less than 50% of its potential nearly all the time. Passengers are a no no, and always afraid of getting scratched or damaged. So I love the tmax it's, practical, fast, packed with loads of toys and looks amazing. So I made the right decision

It's a track bike with headlights, basically so they can race it in Superstock BSB etc as we know. It's made for the track, so maybe review it on the track?

Really? They had the state of the art electronics when released in '15 and have upgraded it since. I thought their slide control was the best.

Mate ur riding around the city stopping and going. Ur not flexible on the bike. The real joy is on country roads on corners. Not in the city in traffic. Yamaha's have always been known to be aggressive. Thats how they are. Its not for all. But do a proper review about it.

I don't recommend this bike to someone with short arms. Me personally I'm 6 ft with long legs and arms and this bike is actually just as comfortable in my opinion as my GSXR 600.
