YAMAHA R15 V3 TOP SPEED 158 KMPH. WAIT, WHAT?

I've taken it touring, I've taken it to twisties, I've even done some off roading on it, but now it is time to test its top speed. Here's me riding my Yamaha R15 V3 on the Kundli Manesar Palwal Highway near Delhi and pushing the bike to its absolute limits.
Honestly, I am shocked. The Yamaha R15 V3 keeps on surprising me, every single day. I never could have imagined this little motor has this much punch in it.
It is a largely a stock Yamaha R15 V3, with mostly cosmetic modifications.
Rider weight with all gear: 88.4 kg
Fuel used: Speed 97
Tyre pressure: 28 psi front, 34 psi rear
Mods on the bike:
Tyres: Metzeler M5 110/70 front, 150/60 rear
Brakes: Front brake line upgraded to a steel braided one from Bajaj Pulsar 220
Yamaha frame sliders
KTM Duke 390 indicators
Custom wrapped in carbon fibre
Golden wheels
Tank grips
And a lot more incoming.
Camera used: GoPro Hero 5 with an external microphone attached using a GoPro mic adapter.

One of the most important thing I love about my Rachel- R15 V3 is that I felt no to zero vibration at all during the top speed. Gives me mileage of about 52 and yet still does the top speed without any hesitation. It's real smooth. Plus the exhaust at high RPM ohhhhhhhh mannn it's so awesome. It's just begs to rev at high RPM all the time.

Raja Roy be happy i would still not recommend any bikes without ABS IN 2018. You can go 157 but in a sudden panic break you can lose your life. I did 159 on my dominar and had to do sudden breaking. ABS engaged immideatly and stopped the bike without any stutter or skid. So its risky to go 157 on such bike without ABS.

Raja Roy be happy thats the mistake people make and i made as well until i went to test ride this beauty and it didnt feel anything like bajaj everything premium and every company can improve as years pass. My advice for you is to test ride the bike and choose rather than listening to other people's nonsense comparison of bikes. Yamaha launched the R15 3.0 Bfore April purposely to skip the compulsory ABS norms in all 125 cc bikes and above implemented by government they are such bastards. But purchasing this bike is your but be safe as this bike will not support you a lot in panic breaking at top end speed iv seen one guy already crashing on R15 V3at top end due to lack of ABS at top speed thats why i dont recommend watching top speed videos and purchasing a bike. safety is important which yamaha dosnt believe in giving Indian customers. thats where i adore companies like TVS and bajaj to give them all.

this 155cc vva engine is a monster, i've seen other videos where guys clock between 130-146, but this insane run could be a result of good fuel with top octane number helping the high compression engine ease it out, and finally the important factor how the throttle is applied. congrats on your top speed run. I have been planning to buy its naked sibling MT 15 if it launches.

The V2 is also a great bike. The last time I rode this stretch, I had an impromptu race with a R15 V2. That guy was able to hit 146 kmph while my maximum that day was only 152 kmph. Under right conditions, your bike will reach a higher speed. But top speed is immaterial in the long run. What matters is what speed is you bike comfortable at the most. If your bike can cruise at 120-130, that's good enough for Indian roads. Cheers

Do you have a budget in mind? I hear Rynox makes good jackets at a good price. I would say save up and get good riding gear. A good helmet, jacket, gloves, knee guards and boots if you can. They don't have to be Alpinestars or Dainese, just good products that are relatively easier on the pocket. Cheers

I've seen many KTM riders wearing them. My friend on an Enfield once crashed into my Street Triple 675 at 100 kmph and flew off the bike. His MT helmet and Rynox jacket saved his life that day.

All these bikes are good. They just are not meant for everyone. What works for one person does not necessarily mean works for the other. Just ride the bikes a few times and buy the one that you connect with the most. Specifications are not that important. Real life feel is what matters the most. My two bits in this conversation.

Insane! I have this little beast (Indonesian version) but not yet able touch the top speed. Due to road and trafic condition in my area. Btw, your video so nice! I can not imagine your so calmed at 136 km/h looks like is nothing... Did you deactivate the shift time light? I can not see it light up.

Thank you, Angga. That road is extremely favourable for top speed runs. I got a good tailwind that day and there was a slight gradient. The shift light is probably not visible in the direct sun. I do remember setting it at 11,000 rpm. In India, we get a slightly inferior model than what you get in Indonesia. We don't get upside down forks, we get horrible looking indicators, smaller front mudguard, smaller fuel injector etc. If you don't mind, I would like to discuss something about the Indonesian model with you.
