Yamaha R6 (2008) Clutch replacement.

Clutch replacement on my 2008 Yamaha R6. Sorry for some of the long poor video quality, im still new to all this and this was the 1st clutch change I've done on any bike.
I really hope it helps some of you out as some things I mentioned in this video wasn't mentioned in some that I watched. Thanks for watching.

Good work, just a observation 32:19 clutch cable is not sitting properly on the puller just open the puller a tad bit so will fit correctly then tap the piece of metal that gives more security to it.

Last plate needs to be offset there is a punch mark on the clutch basket. Pack height is 42.4 to 43 mm. Also face the puller rod with the teeth facing the back of the bike.

That last minute clutch plate check was a life saver, thank you for taking the time to do this and showing the details! I had the same issue.

Last clutch plate goes one turn out then the others pal:) Yep that's right. And that's why a real mechanic should do this job

The Yamaha kit comes with couple different part numbers for the clutch packs and pressure plates. How did you know which ones to use? And it also cones with extra plates. Thats what I'm confused on. I see no videos or write ups talking about the extra parts or plate order they go in once you put it back together. I hope you see this soon since my bike is torn apart right now 🤣

I bought mine used and it seems the last owner had the clutch lever too tight, I can’t tell if it’s fried or not but thanks for the detailed video.

What made you replace your clutch? I’m getting this scratching type noise when coasting or when going from a stop only in first gear. Can’t tell if my transmission is toast or just need some new clutch plates

I replaced my clutch because as i was coming into the power it would just slip and rev out as the clutch plates where finished. I'm not to sure what could be causing your issue but it may be a clutch related issue 🤔

@@aarontuckerdrift1038 yeah it’s weird, I’m gonna try to swap the plates but like said it’s a scratching noise not a grinding or clunking sound. Almost like scratching a nail against concrete only in 1st. Thanks tho! Prolly the only video on the r6 explaining the process

Yeah thats a strange one I'd try and call a few motorbike mechanics and try and get there opinions then go from there 👌🏼 glad the video was helpful for you 🙂

@@NooksterFishes Yessir I do. I can still hear the "scratching" weeks later, but the bike is running mechanically fine so I've ruled out the possibility of the transmission. At this point I'm just gonna chalk it up to the brake pads dragging when coasting. I was probably just paranoid since I recently bought it used. But like I said, bike is running and shifting great.

How tight did you make the bolts with the springs?

Think I i checked the manual, but from memory 8-10 NM. but definitely confirm that bud, I'd imagine there's plenty of info on the net on your current year/model

What do you mean by 1 turn out?

@@oscara7538 last clutch plate does not go in the same slots as all of the others. You spin it over one tooth of the basket

Should be flush with all the other plates there are notches on the clutch housing they all sit in

Yeah he’s right, last friction plate should have the castellations offset to the rest of the clutch pack

Sorry the video ain't good enough for ya bud, lots of others have appreciated the video. I didn't have to record me doing the clutch but I thought I would to try and help people out. don't usually do things like that so it was very new to me.
