Its not just about riding a bike to its potential. Sure Marc marquez will be faster on a R7 than the average rider on an R6, but if anyone is slower on a R6 than they are on an R7 it is THEIR fault not the bike's. Performance isnt just about cornering. Some people want to spend their hard earned money on a bike that actually IS powerful. Despite being weak in the low revs, the R6 makes over 100hp and when you get into the powerband you feel like a rockstar. R7/MT07 engine just isnt as exciting as a high revving 4 cylinder. There is no getting away from the fact that yamaha is selling you 70hp for 9000$. Please justify how for only 1000$ more you could by a zx6r with practically twice the power, better brakes, better suspension, better chassis and an Inline 4 that revs to 16000.

I recently got one, and love it. I still have a liter bike... a MT10 to scratch the big power bug. But a good bike isn't all about power. I had a R1 and R1M and find the R7 is more fun on the street. The R1s were way more uncomfortable and their potential was just too high to use on the street, so they were always loafing along. They were both great on track, but boring on the street. My R6s were better on the street, but not a whole lot, as reving the tits off them gets the unwanted attention of folks who live on the back roads I frequent. On a bike like the R7 you can zip along, work the bike, and nobody turns their head, much less calls the Sheriff. R7 feels slim and light, and the good low RPM torque is idea for twisty back roads with limited visibility. Plus the suspension compliance, seat, and ergonomics are way better for street riding. So far my only complaint is the dash should illuminate (a lot) more brightly. It gets washed out in the full sun. Other than that, great bike.

Not sure what Yamaha was thinking by getting rid of the R6 and forcing people to buy an R1 to get the Super Sport experience. They've basically cancelled their 600cc market leaving the R6 crowd with nothing to run too in its price range except to another manufacturer. The R7 isn't a super sport. It's a road bike with Super Sport fairings. It's such a strange idea to market this as something we all know it isn't which is a replacement/competitor to the R6. This bike is a huge downgrade all around. This is like a bike you buy if you're too squeamish to ride an R6 or an R1. It should have been called the R5. Basically it's Yamaha's version of Honda's CBR500R except it has a bigger engine.I guess guys that wanted a 600cc bike will have to go to Suzuki, Honda or Kawasaki. Yamaha removed themselves from the 600cc game. with 75hp this thing isn't going to be passing up anything on the track except the R3.

Looks fast and doesn’t kill you on insurance or price . Tough to be honest with yourself !

That is absolute horse shit. The R6 was still a fantastic road bike as long as you know how to ride. If you’re a beginner or on a budget I’m sure the R7 will be great but that’s it. So many people are trying to justify this bike, it’s pathetic. The R7 will be a great bike for some people but it’s a pale imitation of an actual sports bike.

@@Mockle07 Every bike has its place . I’ve been riding sport bikes for 35 years , owned a 09 R6. The point is , MOST people , sounds like excepting yourself , would get just as much fun from the 7 . Reality is , you said it , if you know how to ride . More fun , and safer , to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow . Just saying . By the way, I love the R1 but my Fz10 is way better on the street .
@Mockle073 жыл бұрын
@@chrispawlak14 Oh I agree, as I said there is certainly a market for this bike but to suggest this 65bhp parallel twin is a better all round sports bike for “95 percent of riders” is crazy. My first bike was a VFR400 and within less than two years I wanted something faster. I owned a CBR600F, CBR600RR and three R6s, followed by my current bike, a Triumph Street triple. Low powered bikes can be fun but only in short stints, I would never have one as my only bike. I understand the reason the R6 is disappearing; the market has changed and they don’t sell… I have no issue with Yamaha over that, it’s business. I also realise that the R7 is not an R6 replacement - they are so, so different and appeal to different people. My issue is the amount of people who are eulogising about this bike as if it is some awesome new idea or that it’s a ‘smart rider’s’ bike etc… no, it’s a reasonably entertaining budget bike wrapped in a fairing and called a sports bike. On a personal note, I understand that Yamaha are smart for building it for sure, but I hate that they used the legendary R7 name.
