Thanks for all your maintenance videos Joel! Tips: There will be less overflow if the exact amount of oil is put in, measured before pouring (.58 quart) rather than having a bunch of oil seeping out of the overflow hole and extra oil in your fill spout. Also, put some aluminum foil over the brake lines and make a funnel so the oil hits the foil and runs down and doesn't pour all over the brake lines.

Since there are no videos on the Raider maintenance online, this is one of many great informative videos you have shared! Thanks Joel.

It’s actually the gear/transfer case oil you’re changing. The transmission is lubed by the engine oil.

can anyone explain how there's a transfer case on a one-wheel drive vehicle? What does it even mean in this context?
@cathyberry8400 Жыл бұрын
The stratoliner exhaust is wayyy closer to that hex bolt than yours. Even if you cut an allen down, it will hit the pipe as soon as you start to back out that bolt im pretty sure. Ive cut one down as short as possible and it still touches that pipe. Yamaha sure screwed up those bikes with that exhaust. oh welllll good reason to order a Cobra exhaust ;)
@jeffkeni Жыл бұрын
I didn't own my Strat long enough to need to change the transfer case oil but it looked like a daunting task. I always lamented the fact the (factory) exhaust would have to be pulled. Yamaha probably wanted to generate business for their dealership's service department. (Ditto for Honda: 3 hours to disassemble and reassemble the Goldwing's exoskeleton just to change the air filter!)

Very much appreciate the instructional video. How often/when does this oil change need to happen?

Around 3500 miles, this is an air cool Engine oil does gets extremely hot!
@tombaily298 ай бұрын
@@joelsuarez4251you do not need to change transfer case oil that frequently. Engine oil gets changed every 4k miles and transfer case oil gets changed every 16k miles.

All you can do is open up the overflow and see if fluids comes out, make sure the bike is level. Same way you check a shaft drive system!
