Should i have replaced that oring on that dowel pin? Just rebuilt mine but i didnt replace that oring.
@JOATD12 күн бұрын
@davidgaziano5624 Technically, when you do a rebuild of anything you should always replace all o rings. Just stops you from having to go back in. But as long as it wasn't brittle and it didn't have cuts on it it should be okay.

How much would it cost to get the trans rebuilt in a 660?
@JOATD10 ай бұрын
I don't actually know, I never contacted anybody to see but someone told me it costs them $1,000 just to clean the carburetor and change the clutch.

So yamabond 4is better than a gasket in your opinion?
@JOATD Жыл бұрын
Yes I think it's one the best on the market the never dries out it always stays soft and it's heat and oil lubricant resistant.
@joshmarcell2337 Жыл бұрын
Are the gaskets harder to deal with. I have a 2001 raptor. I been letting my son ride it now when I go to shift to 3bd it's a false neutral. I just went ahead and got a mint used tranny from a 2003 woth the updated 2nd gear. The replacement gear was 150$ so for 300$ I figured the tranny would be better incase more is wrong and since 2nd gear is prone to fail in the 01. Do you have a video from start taking the motor off the bike and spitting the case?

Also didn't look like you put alot of yamalube on so just a bead and wipe flat?
@drippycaulk1909 ай бұрын
Question man, I had a stick lodge behind my front sprocket while in first gear and my 660 won’t move now. I’m in the process of splitting the case and I found a shattered clutch plate, do you think there’s anymore internal damage or could that be the cause? I didn’t find any metal shavings in the oil.
@JOATD9 ай бұрын
I'm going to be honest with you you should break that whole motor down and make sure that there is nothing inside the transmission. The transmission and clutch share the same fluid there is a oil filtering that catches the big pieces of broken metal. But the fence may need to be clean inside the filter if all of those fragments are broken up. Better safe than sorry you risk destroying the transmission if one piece of that clutch plate goes through those gears

Hi it's my first rebuild on a raptor 660 I fitted all new bearings and crankshaft ect..when I fit the other side of the casein will it pull my crank balancer over slightly as it's just catching the crankshaft ...
@JOATD Жыл бұрын
You're saying that the balancer is touching the crankshaft just a little bit right. If so, yes the same thing happened to me. It's because when you put everything in the case is laying on the crankshaft pushing it towards the balancer. Once you put everything together it will not touch.

Hello. I am unsure whether you tea comments or not. I am rebuilding my raptor 660 engine right now and I followed your guide and checked the manual. When I put both case halves together the transmission is still in neutral. But right when I tighten down the bolts the transmission is not in neutral anymore and is much harder to spin. I have been struggling with this for a week now. I have no idea if it’s the forks or what. Thank you.
