Thank you for filing these! I've just turned on a donated one and encountered the same issue. I will be giving this a go!

Thanks for the video. I've fixed the issue on my one amp by replacing this cap. My other amp RX-V550 doesn't turn on. I replaced the cap, now it turns on for about 3 seconds and then turns off again. Any suggestions as what to try next will be highly appreciated. Thx

Can I ask how you originally discovered this issue, I like repairing electro mechanical tape decks etc but I just don’t have the know how on electrical components

Hi, i know this is a late reply. The C405 capacitor, the one he replaces in the video, is notorious for going out of spec after a few years. Just google „Yamaha C405” and you will se heaps of blog posts about this particular part. Returning to your question, its all about studying the schematics and doing measurments. When you notice a voltage is off, you look if the voltage being off could make your device behave/not behave as youre experiencing you look for the cause. Its quite a process but youre doing a favor to yourself, and to the planet by repairing old equipment.

@@AdverTyy Thanks for replying, in the 5 months since my original comment I was shown the basics of what you just described! I was told how to use a multimeter other than just checking continuity, lol, I’m learning new stuff all the time and enjoying the challenge more than ever! Thanks again!

Was really hoping to find same board and piece on my HTR-5920 to fix it, but electronics inside are different. Is not in the side or on bottom.

I've never worked no this model - you could check C932 on the main board in this model - follow the power cable - it should be near the mains connector, next to the fuse on the main PCB.

In my opinion, a like for like replacement is the safest option.

What is the part that I gotta replace called?

It's a film capacitor. Not sure of the uF rating but the numbers printed on yours will identify it.

My receiver is turning on and off and on and off and on and off, at random times like some kind of seizure. Do you have any ideas?

Hi, Did you solve the issue? Was the PCB in place when it was doing so? I did change the cap and it does the same here as well. Thank you in advance.
@9hundred679 ай бұрын
@@laszloTheJr I bought another similar Yamaha receiver and used the power board from that to replace the faulty one. It seems to have done the trick. I think that red relay box was the fault. It was clicking on and off randomly.

@@9hundred67 thank you for the prompt answer. I got a hint in the meantime that the elco-s are suggested to be changed. I will try it. Let me know if you are interested in my result. I am working on a RX-V459 anyway...
