My Rx v371 was not powering up. I cleaned it using alcohol and did every possible thing. Left it unattended for last 4 years assuming it fried. Out of curiosity I was fiddling with it today and referred to some videos, incl yours. Wallah it started working in one go. Thanks a lot for this video.

Hey fantastic Gonzalo. But remember, if it continues to trip get it checked out by a qualified electronics technician. Most of the time it is the dust and Capacitors that need replacing on the power supply board. Higher temperature electrolytic capacitors (105 celcius), will better than the factory ones. What model Yamaha did you have???

Great Video. I have a RX-V675 that was off for a couple days with a power outage. When power came back I get an "Internal Error" on the display. Have tried a couple time doing a USB firmware reload, but get the Error 4000 at the end. I have also attempted the power on holding the "INFO" and "STRAIGHT" button, but get the "No Model Info" message, and no buttons allow me to step through anything. Any other ideas before I take it to a service center which is many miles away from me???? Thanks in advance.

Quick question if the short cut to try and locate the fault won’t cause the front panel to come on does that mean the front panel isn’t working or does that likely mean it’s in the power supply?

I have found the 2 following problems with the power on my RX-V585, when it’s connected to 110 V, when testing voltage on leads going through to the transformer connector I have no V reading, but when the Transformer connector is unplugged, I get voltage at the leads. what can cause this? also, on T5401, at output leads 8,9,10 and 11, I have no DC volts, what should be the reading? because I have 0 on my multimeter. Are you able to help me?

hello i have the Yamaha receiver RX-679, the red led for the power is on but cannot get any display or nothing when I push the power button, will flash red for about 10 time and nothing turns on, so i tried few times your suggestion tone control plus straight togheter and power waiting 3 second on hold . do you have any other suggestions ore need to take for repair ? thanks for the videos i love every one very helpful and easy to follow

Hey , what is the difference between pressing tone control + info and tone control + straight ? On the service manual it says "Starting Self-Diagnostic Function While pressing the “TONE CONTROL” and “INFO” keys, press the Power key to turn on the power, and release those 2 keys. The self-diagnostic function mode is activated." So if im correct tone + info will give you the error code directly without searching in the sub menu with the program key ?

There are two different methods, and it all depends on what Yamaha receiver you have. I put both options in the video "FAQ's" in comments, to cover everything made in the last 13 years. Is there a quick fix for the "decoder off" There is video via hdmi but no audio. Tried different HDMI cables with no change. On the display, it used to have icons of the speakers. They do not show up any more. Yamaha HTR-5063

Powered on an RX-V483 that knowingly worked about two years ago. It's just been sitting unplugged since then. When I powered it on (nothing connected to it whatsoever), it clicked and immediately turned off. While no smoke, it did smell like something electrical. Anyways, not it just has a flashing red LED when trying to power it up. When doing the INFO + TONE CONTROL + POWER (whether I do the press, or press-and-hold method), the unit clicks, the LED turns off, but then there's no display and it immediately goes back to standby. If I hold down INFO + plug it in, I had a display and was able to successfully update the firmware. After that, the issue still remains. Any idea?

We have a RX 477 & The red light keeps on flashing red, tried tone, straight and info buttons in different comb's hear a clicking sound and the arc system on the tv is saying that audio system is on, but no lights are showing on the screen, so must be a internal problem i dont think its in protection mode, we had a party sons birthday and the sound was up for a while, so must be a internal problem i guess unless someone can help lease?

I just saw your "read the FAQ" suggestion...sorry! But I don't think I see my issue because the receiver operates with the remote and front panel buttons (I'm guessing my problem is with HDMI control?) unless you're saying I'm incorrect and that this is a repair issue. btw, a factory reset didn't fix the problem although it did cause me to lose sound from the center channel (thinking I lost a setting that I can't yet diagnose).

Having trouble disconnecting the ribbon cable. For this connector, one corner is diagonal and one end has a mark on it. How do I open it to remove the ribbon cable?

For these models, one end of the cable is soldered in, but the other end can usually be removed (There will be a locking mechanism) But unless you are a trained technician, leave for the experts

Just follow the instructions in Video, this will un-brick your rx-v385. But you will have to get the fault fixed eventually, most likely dry capacitors on power supply board. Get your electronics technician/repairer to replace them all, with higher temperature (105 Celcius or 220 fahrenheit) electrolytic capacitors. cheers MBK

My 675 is blinking the speakers icon cutting the sound from it. Happens on radio or HDMI cable. Disconnected all speakers cable and happens using one or other speaker.

It indicates a DC amplifier problem. The Voltage is too "High". Take the Yamaha to your nearest service provider. DO NOT fix it yourself.

Seems like you aren't replying to anyone's comments, just liking their posts for some reason. I have a TSR-5810 and I have no reaction. The power button doesn't click, and nothing turns on, I tried holding power for 15 seconds, and I tried tone control, info, and straight combinations. No reaction. It's like it's dead. Where should I start looking for the problem?
