Thanks for the Video, very helpful! I'm getting ready to do initial fluid changes on our RMAX4. I was thinking of taking to dealer, but I believe I will do it myself and save the money!

Thanks for the video. Hard to find informational videos on the new 2021 RMAX. I'm about to do my first maintenance on my RMAX2, as soon as the kit comes in to dealership. You definitively have a new subscriber here. Very helpful and informative video.

I got about the same amount of oil out of my oil cooler lines as you so I left my oil cooler drain bolts out while I removed my oil filter. Once I got the oil filter off I got alot more oil out of the oil cooler lines. I guess the oil filter created a suction and wouldn't let the oil come out until the filter was spun off. Try that on your next oil change.

Looks pretty simple, anyone with a little bit of knowledge to do this, like you said the dealerships want to charge 500 bucks for something like that. Do it yourself you know it was done right.

My Buddies Rmax Just decided to leak oil out the Oiler cooler line. A rock had gotten in the pan and must have wedged itself against the oil cooler line and rubbed through. .. WHY Yamaha made the skid plate non removeable is beyond us. What pain to track that oil leak down.
@AppalachianMountainRiders2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! It’s awesome to have a full metal skid but the fact that it’s welded on and can’t be removed is stupid. Another case of “over engineered” if you ask me…lol.

Can you tell me the part number to the oil filter
@TarheelTrailblazer3 жыл бұрын
Jason, how what was the total amount of time spent to change the oil, both diffs, and the transmission fluid?
@AppalachianMountainRiders3 жыл бұрын
It can be done in an hour or so depending on how fast the oil drains and how well you can multitask.
@albertsanchez80073 жыл бұрын
Owner's Manual for my RMAX4, describes break-in period as "20-hours", after which oils should be changed. However, there's a table in the same manual which shows oil changes by 150 miles "or" 20-hours, whichever comes first. What do you suggest?
@AppalachianMountainRiders3 жыл бұрын
Which ever one you hit first. The mileage or hours are not the important part it’s getting through several heat/cool cycles and running at various rpms that matter. If you hit 20hrs but only have 100miles do it then. If you hit 150miles but only have say 10hrs, go a head and change the fluids then.

@justink50932 жыл бұрын
That sucks you couldn’t get their oil filter. Yamaha has a 20 year/160,000km/5000 hour engine warranty. But you need to use Yamaha oil and filters. Or at least here in Canada we get that warranty
@TheBandit76132 жыл бұрын
In the US, they can't tell you what oil/parts must be used. Only the weight/grade when it comes to oil.

Are u copletelt satisfied with the 1000 compared to the 850 a lot more power and plusher suspension
@AppalachianMountainRiders2 жыл бұрын
More power and suspensions yes! The 850 X’s were a bit more maneuverable being a touch skinnier though. I will say my 850 was just as quick as my Rmax with the sheave and tune from a stop but the Rmax is stronger mid to upper range.
