I bought mine brand new as a kid worked 2 summers to save up for it and cartridges, got it in like 1987 brand new, sold it about 10 years ago, it was awesome but the RX-5 never truly got the “props” and respect it deserved. That machine changed my life, kept me out of trouble and gave me hope when things were bad. It is an amazing machine for its time. I was literally in like 7th grade and would visit the music shop everyday on my way home from school and play with it. I cut grass, washed cars, shovel snow, you name it to save the money, it went on clearance for like $900 and I was still a bit short and mom came through with her “secret stash savings and made it happen for me. We were poor, and again this machine changed my life.

@MusicianParadiseАй бұрын
Congrats on your RX5 and thank you for a kind words! You'll have a lot of fun with it! In regard of looping (from the manual) : When editing the envelope of a voice (refer to EDIT VOICE JOB #03) looping automatically occurs when you alter the Attack Rate or Decay Rate to create a sound that exceeds the envelope length of the original sample. This "loop" can be turned off, (JOB #6) restoring the sound to its original sampled state, often featuring a sharp cut-off, which can be useful for special effects.

@MusicianParadise11 ай бұрын
I was obsessed with the gear before I started the KZbin channel. Suddenly, the perspective shifted-the gear wasn't as crucial as the skill to engage people. To illustrate, you could splurge up to $10K on a mint condition Roland TR-909, but without the skill to create compelling video content, its value as a music-making tool (aside from its collector's item value) is practically zero. I'm not even talking about creating music with the Roland TR-909, because honestly, our audience could not care less if the track features a real 909 or some VST. The only thing that matters is if the music is actually good. On the other hand, with the right skills, you could gain millions of KZbin views using a simple box of matches as a shaker. When we obsess over gear, we're really obsessing over the potential outcome it promises. But the question is, can we harness at least 1% of the potential of the gear we already own? The potential of a box of matches in the hands of a true artist is limitless. Sorry for such a long reply, but your comment truly resonated with me.
