DCT should be much more smooth. But anyway, it’s good that other manufacturers are moving to this direction.

Il cambio DCT di Honda ê un automatico a DOPPIA FRIZIONE. Questo ê un automatico. Con entrambi si può anche cambiare manualmente con le levette sul manubrio. Secondo me comunque ê un ottimo cambio automatico. Mi piacerebbe provarlo. Io possiedo una Honda con cambio DCT.

@@dinkoprotrka1445 What do you mean by NOT an auto? Are you saying that to be an auto, it must have a torque converter and an epicyclic gear system? Of course it is an auto - the gear shift strategy is determined by an ecu, not by the operator.

If you are in D or D+ mode, is there option to press the button and downshift manually? Or you need to change mode to do anything with manual buttons?

In auto (D or D+) you can always shift up or down with the left hand switchgear. Though it may still decide to shift back up/down after

If you pass your test on one does that mean you can only ride an automatic bike or can you ride a motorcycle with a clutch as well..

i think it depends on what the DVLA in your area thinks, i passed my test on a honda nc700s DCT and was given a manual license for it but i have spoken to multiple examiners who have said its kinda up to them how they classify it

Wouldn’t think it would be in the air like that, I’ve checked since and it does say if you pass your test on a automatic you can only ride an automatic, but if you pass your test on a manual you can ride both.

Basically, yeah! Works differently, motor actuators on the clutch and gears, and not a dual-clutch like the Honda, though.

Impressive technology, but why introduce it on a hooligan bike like the MT-09? Seems odd as I would think this would be more applicable to the Tracer for touring. My hope is you don't think we ALL want an automatic. Please offer this as an option rather than replacing the manual transmissions, and the traditional clutch lever and foot shifter. I respectfully disagree that this technology will make anyone more "one" with the bike. I believe it will do the opposite, it will disconnect the rider from what is going on and make them more of a passive participant in the riding experience :(

Yamaha did say this will not replace the manual transmission, rather always be available as an option for the MT-09 and other models going forward. It's well worth a go if you get the chance - but I think I'd still go manual (with that third gen quickshifter!)

I have a patent !🎉🎉🎉 To make the shifter differently. My shifter is from side to side.It is a gear button that slides horizontly in a zig zag path to prevent accident shifting of more then two gears at once.The gear button is poditioned to the right of the left handle infront of the driver so the driver could look at the button though he wouldn't have to . Each corner of the position is a gear station ; If you have six gears then you have 6 corners to tge zigzag path. In that way you can see at what gear you are in relative to the others and also feel it as you change gears -- An important cue that is missing in the Y AMT and similar dezigns. The patent is making the zigzag close enough to a straight horizontal line so changing gears from 1 to 6 will be almost as moving the gear button in a straight line from left to right meaning quickly , yet far enough from straight line path that the driver will be able to stop the gear button in each corner of the zigzag path without moving it too much. Am I a genious or not ?!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂

Big miss they didn't connected it to the cornering system as it could shift mid corner. Still not enough information as how automatic perform in city, mixed condition, highway! I personally prefer it to be installed in xsr900 or xsr700 design! Other than this it's my dream! Thanks!

We didn’t spend too much time in traffic or low speed, but the gearing was smooth and quick so can’t imagine it would be any issue. Yamaha reckon manual mode is the default for proper riding in any case. Cheers mate

To be fair I’d say so, leave it in auto mode and setting off and slowing down is all sorted for you. No clutch work to worry about - and even in manual mode you can’t stall! One of the reasons why Yamaha have brought it in, to appeal to new riders
